AT Trans hunting for gears.....

What's the best remedy for an AT hunting for gears? If I floor it it goes up to crazy high rpms(6500) in 1st gear, and redlines at the rev limiter in 2nd gear....i have to see if it will shift into 3rd....could it be my throttle position sensor? It also shifts with a jolt whenever it switches gears, with normal acceleration. I'm sorry if i posted similar posts, but i'm really concerned about my car, which i've only had a week. I don't wanna get a tranny rebuild, because i doubt that's the only solution, but I've narrowed it down to a few possibilities:

Solenoids and Solenoid valves(could be clogged, causing jerky shifting)
Throttle Position Sensor(could be off, causing high rpm shifts)
Drop Resistor(can these go bad? I've heard of an improved one released by Nissan)
Tranny fluid (what's the best one to use?)

ECU

Have any of you Auto Maxima guys had these problems?
What are my options?

Thanks so much for any response.

Dude my auto did the same thing. Mine also started slipping real bad after that, I had to have a new core and new bands, basically a brand new tranny.

alright, so say my car does need a new tranny.....is that the same as a rebuild? how many days will my car be out of commission? (i have both school and work)

and how can i show the dealer that i do need a new tranny? (i think theyll be a little reluctant to give it to me for free)

Wait...you're complaining that your auto redlines the gears when you're at WOT? And the partial throttle shifts are jerky regarldess of if the car's warmed up? Might want to check your drop resistor before you go rebuilding the tranny. Most people would kill for an auto that redlines the gears. I had to do the DR mod for that to happen.

Aamco is only $800 for a rebuild? I guess I assumed it would be more than that.... what prices have other people paid for an AT rebuild or replacement?

Is it usually cheaper for a rebuild, or having a rebuilt tranny swapped out?

Alright, my transmission went perfect with literally no slipping, just the rpm's were a little high, not as high as before.....then it started slipping just like last time...i'm gonna see if i can get it rebuilt....I also heard of this MT-10 lubricant that you can put in your tranny to reduce wear, and ensure proper shifting, i might give that a try before I actually rebuild the tranny.

I wanna drive my maxima without worrying about the transmission, if someone had these problems and fixed them without a recuild, please tell me, i'm all ears.

Thanx.
