I'm curious on who here has done this mod to their car. I just received my mirror and Temp probe in the mail and went about on doing it tofay, but was totally lost and confused. I thought it was going to be a little more cut and dry than it is. What exactly do you do? Do you take off the whole entire stock mirror off? Where/how do you support/hold up the temp probe bythe mirror? How does it happen to get the outside temp, is it just by being on the glass itself? Help would be greatly appreciated, as well as any pics too. Thanks.

 

hey max, did you ever get your video set up? for the mirror, there should be a set screw that holds the factory mirror onto the "button" glued to the windshield. on my car the mirror is mounted to the roof, if thats your case you will have to buy a "button" and adhesive and stick it to the windshield yourself. as far as the temp sensor goes, it should be mounted outside the car, usually behind the grill, anywhere it will get good air flow and not pick up engine heat. hope this helps.

 

Yeah man, I got it all setup. It came out real good, I have pics (not from a Digital Cam), but I needa get a Host first to post them on. Thanks for asking. Now, to the mirror. Yes, that did help, but mine is the same it is mounted into a bracket that's on the roof/grey cloth. So I'm assuming go to a Automotive shop or Home Depot to get that push button you talk of. Also, the Temp Gauge, now how would I connect that to the mirror. I suppose I will have to splice and solder on more wire and run it all the way to the mirror somehow? Thanks. TTYL.

 

good, glad to hear that! the button i speak of is not a push button, its just a little metal piece and the mirror slides over the top. just remove the factory mirror from the roof. any auto place (advance, autozone, etc) will have the button for a coupla bucks. as for the wiring, i would need a picture or website that shows me the wiring, but it should just be a harness that plugs into the mirror for temp/power wires. see if this helps

Ay man, thanks alot for them websites. They definately helped out and led me in a good direction. As for my video setup and pics, I just created a Page on Car Domain. I actually had the Page created for awhile, just never went through and actually created and edited it. Well, I got 2 pics, nothing special. They're from my Phone's cam, but better than nothing.
