Well, I got my Max from autotrader.com, kinda like eBay. I had to go down to Ohio to get it though... It was tough for me to find a 5spd up here in Michigan

I got mine from eBay, the seller was local so I drove the car before I bought it. No horror stories from me.

i just bought mine from ebay, 96 SE 5 speed pebble beige.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6400

195k miles, $2,950. wanted beige leather and heated seats and this one had everything, 1st one of this combo in the 3 months I was looking. drove it 450 miles home from cleveland, no problems so far. incredibly clean, virtually no wear on the seats, not a single door ding on either side.

car has several great mods including some that the seller did not list (wholesale car dealer): budget Y pipe (and an entirely new exhaust system from y pipe back), decent air intake, front strut bar, 215/45s on 17" aftermarket rims, 1.5 or 2" lowered springs, newer shocks of some sort, clear corners. no records unfortunately, but the clutch feels heavy (high effort), making me think a beefier clutch was installed at some point. whoever had this did many of the modifications that I was considering. lucky for me.

will see, the miles concerned me, but for $2,950 i thought it was worth the risk.

Got mine from ebay about a year ago, drove down to PA from NY to pick it up. Tough to find a 5 speed, it was totally worth it.

Nice find. My buddy bought his 96 Impalas SS on Ebay a few years ago. Still has it and it runs great.

I went on Autotrader.com and found 5 maximas that i liked. The dealers were located within 25 miles. I spent the entire day driving around and looking at maximas..
I finally decided to purchase my max after test driving it for 30 minutes.

I rather test drive a car and get the feel of it, rather than looking at the pics on ebay.

Bought my 96 Max SE 5spd on ebay. Had 99k on it and got it for 4200.00. Had to fly to Dallas to get it from CA. I did have a tire develop a problem on the way back, so that cost me 75.00. The interior was perfect. Has a few door dings, but otherwise pretty nice on the exterior as well. The unfortunate problem with not being able to test drive a vehicle and that can't be viewed in photo's is: It needed struts, drive shafts, and tires. I kind wish I paid a little less, but overall I'm happy with it. I wouldn't do it again though. Too long of a drive back.

i was lucky this time - last time i bought a 325is and it needed all kinds of work, more than i had bargained for. people on autotrader seem to think their cars deserve a retail price, ebay usually goes closer to wholesale. when you pay wholesale, you get wholesale more often than not.

heavy petal also could mean wearing of clutch or pressure plate too. Or clutch cable!

I thought the same thing then I sold one of my cars on it and it was smooth and then I bought my Max off of there. It's a 95 SE with everything in it leather sunroof heated seats blah blah blah... It had 191K when I bought it but it had 2 sets of rims and tires the originals and some off of an 01 and then it came with an in dash TV/DVD player and I only paid $3250 with a rebuitl transmission and new clutch. I thought it was a pretty good deal.

I got my 99 SE-L 5spd from ebay.
I paid $11,300 for it in March 2003.
It had 65,500 miles on it, and it was in pretty darn good shape...and still is.

I had to drive over 400 miles out to Dallas to check it out.
Then, I drove it back home as mine.....had a cashier's check for it.
Title is in the house.
