custom Front splitter
i'm trying to think of ways to get rear downforce. i wouldn't want some huge wing on the back of my car...it just wouldn't look right. there needs to be something done under the car in the back, or maybe a spoiler that looks stock, but is actually functional.
you could do kinda like what the guy with the m3 (link somewhere in this thread) and attach plastic to the back of the stock spoiler. wouldnt look fantastic, but it wouldnt be a big ricey wing either.
I'm thinking about that rear-difuser thing. to make a good one, it would be smart to move the exhaust some where else. Maybe just a side dump pipe would work, providing an inline muffler was used for sanity's sake. or, maybe we need to find a low profile CF rear wing that will look sick, as well as provide plenty of down-force.
If I can't get anything to happen with Mark to make these splitters, I'll post a write-up, and hopefully someone else can help you guys make some of these splitters. It's looking like it may be too labor intensive to be profitable at a reasonable price. I personally probably won't be taking any of the profit from the splitters, just so we can keep the price down. Mark has to be abble to pay for the time he puts into this.
I'll keep you posted.

would a wood one be as effective as a aluminum one? and would it be neccesary to add rear downforce? im thinking a small universal wing something adjustable but low to the trunk i hate HUGE wings and want something almost understated if i need it.
Finnaly Moving On It!
Mark finnaly got into his new house, and a local friend of mine volounteered his 99 max for a prototype! we're on the move! I'm sorry it's taking all this time, but I told you it would.
Anyways, we're going to measure out the demensions of my current splitter and see what kind of stock we need to get (in two weeks or so), and how many splitters we can make per sheet. and then it's a matter of trying the stillen lip (thanks MAXDADDY98), and taking some pics for you guys to comment on.
progress is always fun!

You could actually cut out a portion or two from the bottom of the rear bumper and then cover the hole with a type of mesh grill diffuser. I saw these I think in the JC Whitney catalog at one time. What it does is allows a smoother flow of air leave the bottom of the car through the opening in the bumper, rather than having the rear bumper act as an air dam that catches the flow and creates lift. I don't know whether my explanation makes sense, but I tried.

It's true though... I think we will be able to keep the fog lights, i'll put a 90% on that one.

Just got off the phone with Mark, this Sunday we are going to be traceing my splitter for a pattern and test fitting my splitter on my friend Jesse's '99 Max. Also, with the splitter Off I will be test fitting the stillen lip and splitter combo.
yay!

ya , you need to find some good , quality waterproof carboard.
Top Element Tuning has had a front splitter available for a long time. It's made from carbon fiber, not some crappy aluminum panel. Just contact Andy at sales@t etuning.com (no spaces on email)

yea, they have c.f. pillars too ( cough cough)
The front splitter makes a difference in highway speed stability, cuts down on wind noise, and actually protects the front lip and some engine bay components. I know Andy has been working on the rear diffuser for while, so it should be almost done. He will probably make it fit all 4th gens.
