what's a good place that has skyline tail lights for a 98 GXE? IMO it'd look sick with the bodykit.

are you talking about actual skyline tail lights? or the skyline altezza mod? are you planning r32, r33, or r34? personally, i wouldn't do it, but thats why i didn't ask the question... if you can specify, ill get some links to help you out...

 

oh my bad,

i have an r33 bodykit. I'd prefer real sky tails but altezza mods are also ok.

You know, i never liked the way it looks on the Max.

Correct me if im wrong but if you went and got actual R32, 33, 34 tails, wouldnt it run you a fortune to install them?? Im sure there will be a lot of body work.

i did the homemade skyline mod. I have not updated the pic since I waxed and cleaned the clearcoat on my car to match the tails. Is a tedious modification but not expensive. The paint i got from nissan for 80 bucks(friend in body shop). Their are more pics on my webpage, link below

nmexmax are you just playing around here asking what's a skyline? cause if you own a nissan and dont know what a skyline is then you should be and . and those lights look okay on a max but i wouldnt choose that just my .02

I hope to god he knows what a skyline is. I made them because I got altezzas before everyone and their mom got them. Once they were everywhere, I made them into skylines to stick out and be different. I get asked all the time where I got them at and have never ever seen a Max on the road with them.(exept for the other few I made). That's why custom is the way to go.

and were you serious about EIGHTY DOLLARS worth of PAINT??? COT DAYUM! that's a little much to spend on already expensive tails, in my opinion, but i'd do it if i had the $$$!

 

I did mine way back as well. I had them done in the early part of 04 when I did the front bumper conversion. I had the shop spray them the same factory paint (QNO) as the bumper.

I like the look of my new tails better though.
But at the time, I felt the painted Alteezas looked pretty good.

I remember someone on here actually doing the real skyline tails on his maxima. Royal something I think. It looked ok; kinda weird though. I don't think it's worth the money though. If you really want it I'de go with the altezza modification.

I dont know whose car this is...but I know its a 4th gen with the skyline tails..

 

^ That black I30 is Royal T's car. It's one of my favorite max's, but I don't think spending the money on genuine skyline tails is worth it to me.

i would just custom fit the gen2 tails on my max if i still had it..and wanted to spend the money...i liek the black max with the skyline tails...but not the yellow one...wtf is up with the yellow rims? i think the balck max should just trade rims with the yellow one..thank god i went with NOT as much rice on my fifth gen...im not going for looks..more performance..

OH yeah

anyway...if i were you blackmax_kid...i would go several ways with this

1. pay a **** load of money and get david L clears (95-96)

or

2. Buy altezzas and swap the altezzas housing with the OEM housing; paint the bottom part red and silicone the **** outta the edges of the light (95-96)

or

3. Buy (97-99) red clear and pu those on in 10 minutes and call it a day

or

4. Buy altezzas; open them up, paint the housing body color, put them back together, and call that a day

or FINALLY

5. Buy the gen 2 altezzas (97-99) and put those suckers on...they are good too

EDIT: number 1 and 2 dont apply to you

From Ebay.... I used to have the full skyline kit untill I decided to go all carbon fiber.... but then I didn't take off the rear bumper cause I want that whole bumper covered in carbon fiber eventually.

 

Also for the people who dislike the black one, I wouldn't quite call it rice - it also has a rather nice custom turbo setup under the hood as well.
