My 97 maxima idels really bad at certin times. When like i am stoped it idels up and down making the car shake. Any ideas on what this is? Aslo i am having some horrible low end power problems, is that just the way my automatic maxima is, or is something wrong. I heard this might be caused by a knock sensor being bad, but wouldn't i get a light if it was bad? thanks

 

check for codes, KS wont light up a CEL.. Check sparkplugs, clean TB and other basic maintence items.. PCV, fuel filter, etc.

 

Those symptoms point straight to the throttle position sensor. Check your ECU for codes and see if that one comes up.
