how did you do that? How were you doing a diagnostic.

you can reset the ECU so that the light goes off. Check the stickes at the top of the 4h gen page.

Do you mean it went off by blinking?

Ok, not a diagnostic-but this "ECU fault code diagnosis". I did like it says and turned it clockwise then counterclockwise. Then, I looked at the light and it was off! So, it never did the blinking thing-it just went off?! Are you with me?

I'm with you...have you started your car and it stays unlit now?

If so all you can do is wait for it to come back. You basically cleared your codes.

press your remote button 2 times, start the car up, drive 2 miles, go back to your original location, press the remote 3 times and the light will come back.

I thought it was 3 presses of the alarm button in particular when you return.

First, make sure the johnson rods are within spec, if it's not that, replace the knudsen valve.

You have to leave the key in the ignition.

I turn the key and it runs really rough and shakes and then the car just sputters and dies.

have you checked to see if your firing off any codes, from what i understand it sounds like you need to clean you tps (throttle positon sensor)- thats my best guess anyways

If you can get it running, you may get the CEL back on with a code for the coolant temp sensor. Those are the symptoms of that common problem.

But, it's probably the johnson rods.

I would change the battery energy modulator and see if that fixes it. Common problem.

Now you're just being silly. If she does that, it will take her forever to diagnose the flux capacitor.

Well the procedure is outlined in section 11D of the electrical systems manual. You have to start from somewhere...

She can probably find at least one of the problems by analyzing circuit three:
