I just got my Warp Speed "quiet" catback!!!

Yep, after about a month or two of calling and having them say it will go out tomorrow, it finally came today... Im sure hurricane Ivan prolonged the arrival too, but I do have to say that everyone at Warpspeed is very nice!!!

Anyways, I must have gotten the latest version because I know some people tell Dallas about problems they encounter and the exhaust is corrected... and... about a month or so ago, I remember someone from the org telling me that I would need to drill a small hole in my tip to prevent it from rusting from the water build up... but when I got it, there was already a hole drilled for me!

I am going up to (meineki?) tomorrow so hopefully they can put it on for me...

Tomorrow, or when it is installed, I will provide sound clips for you becacuse I know some people are interested... (Nismotic)

Here are some pictures... oh by the way... its not the tip I ordered, but it still looks sweet!

It looks like only the tip is stainless steel? Is that correct? I thought the muffler to the tip was suppose to be stainless steel. Yea...sound clips would be greatly appreciated.

Why did you say WS in the title? I thought it was athe apex WS but then I realized it looks nothing like mine. So I thought it's the WS2 but why is there 4 pieces instead of 3 like other exhausts? There is no way that is quieter than the WS simply cause the pipes seem to have MUCH thinner walls, the muffler is smaller, and the resonator looks smaller. It just looks like a system that a regular muffler shop put together except the mandrel bends.

That's what I thought also when I first saw it. That exhaust can't be an Apexi WS or WS2; must be a cheaper version of it somehow.

sorry guys... i had "WSP", but then i sounded it out like WarpSpeed "WS" and thought that would be sufficient, but forgot that stood for the apexi model... my appologies for the confusion.

As for being quieter than the apexi, I really don't care thats what I heard... but I won't believe until a in person comparison is done... In fact I hope it isn't, I know its not going to be some ricey muffler so whatever sound it has I am sure I'll love it...

edit: Thanks Sprintmax for the thread title change...

well... i just got back from the install... oh boy, i dont know where to start...

anyways, as they were putting it on, the guy tells me that my o2 sensor is frozen on and a new one from the only place in town would be $160... so that pretty much pissed me off... i was like ok... but then i thought screw it, and told them to just weld the resonator up to the stock sensor... and they did. i figured you guys can direct me to a cheaper one anyhow...

THEN, the bending in the pipe SUCKS! it rattles when I start my car up, and the muffler is way off from being centered... it looks terrible!

I am getting sound clips now...

my advice... get something else...

Well, that set up is not going to win any beauty contests. Looks kinda crappy and the walls of the piping look super thin.

The WS is no longer being made and show me a place that can get a WS2 for a maxima. I looked into it, there is "supposed" to be a WS2 for the maxima but it does not seem to exist.

I don't know for 100% that an apexi cat-back is no longer available. But when was the last time you heard of anyone getting a new Apexi cat-back? I e-mailed and called around and no online shop could really tell me that they could get one.

I just got an SP2, great fitment, great quailty, great sound.

Yeah, i saw your thread. Looks great! A local muffler shop should know what to do in regards to hooking up the sp2 to a 97 maxima right? i called around as well and they gave me the "not sure when it'll be in, but u can put down a deposit if you want..."

I dealt with the same thing ill take pictures sometime when I am home of how they fixed it but they basically had to put a lot of very stable hangars on that made it so when it goes over the rear beam it doesn't hit anything under acceleration. Also had to do this so where the 90 degree bend is becuase that would hit also. My muffler guy basically told me to never buy from these guys again and I would have to agree. When all was said and done I wish I had just gotten the Greddy SP2 becuase it would have almost equaled the same amount of cash (50-80 to fix things plus other hassles) It sounds good now but that is after 3 weeks of banging when I finally just had the shop fix it.

no it doesnt... when the guy moved it off the lift the first thing he said was you'd get more sound out of your stock exhaust...

which, you can tell a little rumble from it at idle, and all the way through the rpms... but when you get to like 4+ my short ram drones it out...

overall, not satisfied what so ever... i cant wait to take this piece of SH*T off...

so there is no exhaust made for 97-99??? i guess the sp2 will be but isn't out yet???

I feel the same way, I wish I would have gotten a cattman or greddy for what I've spent and not to mention the time lost and frustration...from shipping me the wrong parts to not being able to drive my car for a couple of weeks to not including all the necessary parts and there's the fitment issues to name a few. The muffler shop had to bend the crap out of the muffler hangers and add additional ones to have it lined up somewhat decent...which is still off! They also had to chop off the crappy flange and weld in a new one that will sit flush with the cat to stop the exhaust leak. And then there's the annoying drone inside the cabin at 1500-3000 rpm. Seriously buyer beware!!

so would you recommend getting it fixed or waiting for a new exhaust for 97-99... i can put up with it until one is produced...

on your o2 sensor... could they get yours out? and use it? because they couldn't get mine...

In my case, although I'm not happy I do not wish to invest anymore money so I will put up with it for awhile. Personally I don't think you'll be happy even if you try to get it fixed because it will never be perfect.
As for my o2 I did not have any issues becaused it's fairly new. Even the old one I've replaced a couple months back did not have any problem coming off.

sorry to hear you don't like the stuff. One thing about warp speed, a good thing is even though their stuff is incredibly "cheap", atleast it was cheap. I had their stuff at first, and i can't quite say i didn't differ from you in my impression.

Maybe you can have this muffler shop hack up the pipe and get it right. Atleast is the muffler ok? Another bpipe wouldn't be too much of a hassle, atleast u got the muffler.
p.s; Someone should make a sticky about how crappy warp speed is.

There should be 3 total for your '98. 2 in the Y-pipe and 1 after the cat. Check out this link for your o2's http://oxygensensors.com/ There used to be a 15% discount for org members. You may want to call and ask about it.

i am going tomorrow to get my piping straightened out to hopefully center up my tip... also, i would like to get the pipe further away from the underbody to prevent rattling... this should be good for now, i really want a high-quality one made for my car, but i will have to wait for that...

Warpspeed, although their y-pipe rocks, makes too short of a b-pipe, and that throws off the linearity of the rest of the exhaust. I had the WSP b-pipe for about 6 months, and it was very rusty when I took it off. It did however make about the same power as the Greddy SP1 that I replaced it with. I also installed the b-pipe myself, and had to go to the auto parts store to buy a 3 inch extension to get it to line up with the stock muffler. Other wise the over-the-axle pipe was hitting the body of the car.

All that has to be said really is that warpspeed makes great Y-pipe but the fit and finish on the B-pipe is not that great.

I did go through the same thing where they forgot to send parts such as the crappy generic hangars for my Magnaflow Muffler. Somehow in my mind I knew these didn't work but I mean common companies test this or at least show how it works. It didn't matter what I did that thing sat to low and off center. If you look at my homepage now the muffler does finally sit real even once a shop got to it.

but this was after way to many weeks...
