smoke coming from steering column

smoke coming from steering column

I noticed yesterday that i have smoke coming from my steering column, i'm not sure whats causing it - any ideas?

im thinking its a shorted wire or somthing, i'm going to take to my mechanic tommorrow

any thoughts until then? it smells like a kind of electrical metally smell - whatever that is

oh, I thought it would've smelled like grass.... jk

if it smelled electrical then you've diagnosed it correctly as a shorted wire.

You'll need to get a new steering smoke box. You accidently let all of yours out...

in case anyone was interested, it was my alarm (concept 600)
2 of the jumpers fried and the wires had to be disconnected

funny thing is, the alarm still works, except that it doesnt turn on my headlights automatically and the windows dont roll up automatically anymore - oh well
