Keyless Entry Control Unit Compatability

I have a '98 GXE without the keyless entry "brain", but all the wiring is there. I also have the opportunity to purchase a "brain" that is listed as compatable with '95-'97 maximas. Will this work on mine?

are you sure you're not just missing the remote?

do you have a little security light blinking by the steering wheel?
if so, all you need is a remote...

I looked the trunk by the jack and found no silver box but I do have a red security light on the dash. It DOES NOT blink..ever though. Which has me a little perplexed.

Help please

What does that retarded blinking red light do? And will any 1996 Nissan Maxima Keyless Entry remote work with my 1996 Maxima? Or are there different ones for every year?

from what i know....if you have a security light (yes the red blinking light) then all you need to do is get a remote & keyless entry will work....

VOX98 - when you lock your car & look through the window...is it blinking then?

I have the same problem, I just purchased a 96 maxima and the red light does not blink and my keyless does not work, I was told the keyless needs to be programmed to your car and that should activate the alarm.

You can find Remotes on e-bay with the program to program it to your car.

Your telling me your car didn't have keyless entry. If thats the deal i went through the same deal. You have the get the keyless box located in the trunk, the remote control, and the BCM (Body Control Module) From the same car. If yours a Auto you will need and Auto BCM. Hopefully thats not the issue. Good luck.

Ok so even if i have the red light I still may not have keyless. What is the BCM. I thought I just needed the box and the remote. Clarify?
