Changing the bulbs in the dash

Whats up guys I have a 95 maxima gxe and I was just wondering if I could switch the dash color where the speedometer is from the stock gxe to like a blue or red. Do i have to switch out the bulbs and is it worth it to do? Any directions on how if possible. Thanks also i heard that the bulb might be 194 are these hard to get in blue. Thanks guys

yer you can do it and if you do it right it is worth while. IF you are going to chnage the color of it youmight as well buy 194 led's off ebay, cause 194 blulbs will fade behind your dash. For the price you can get these bulbs you can get indiglo's. Check at the top of the forums for the How TO: sectio, and look thorgh those to see how to change the bulbs out. good luck

I've done this mod and yes, it is worth it to do.

I switched my stock bulbs with 4 LED-per bulb bulbs from superbrightleds.com. Pulling the gauge cluster out was a btich the first time, but it's worth it in the end.

Actually while I was in the gauge area, I switched from my stock black GXE gauges to white SE gauges, and threw some chrome gauge rings on for good measure, and I love it!

I put regular red 194 in dash. LED bulbs are infamous for giving hotspots.

I asked around my town when I was looking for LEDs, and I only got recommendations to get them online because they last FOREVER, so it wouldn't be profitable to sell replacements because they would sell so few bulbs.

If you don't want the "hot spots" that LEDs are known for making, order the "WLED-B Blue LED bulb with Wide Angle Viewing" from superbrightleds.com

GO with 194 Polargs (they are brighter than regular 194). Custommaxima.com has them or you can find them on eBay. Little more expensive but folks are saying well worth it.

is is better wo go with a white led rather than a 194 polarg. The polargs are good bulbs, but led's will give you a better more even all over color cause they never fade. before you put leds in sand them down quiet a bit so it spreads the light more and you won't have spots. i did a 01 altima in white and it was tight as all hell.

This isn't the best picture, kind of blurry, but you get the idea. I just bought 194 Red bulbs at Walmart. Goes from white to red, from red to white.

Yep 2 Da Max, I've got a 96 like you and I did this little mod, and I love the results!

Yeah, if you get 194 bulbs from anywhere really (I recommend superbrightleds.com), you can just pull the 5 bulb slots out from the back of the gauge cluster, switch the bulbs (make sure the polarity is right by guess and check), and reinstall and you're all set!
