ya so im a paranoid! but i cant help it....its still a new born baby to me. when ive been driving for a while and the engine is up to operating temp, the rpm's will suddenly drop for a split second when im in drive but stationary (like at a light).sometimes it does it once a minute....sometimes i swear its on the verge of stalling.
anyone have this prob?

oh ya....and whats that damn hissing noise i get from the driver side rear wheel well when the car is running. thats annoying!

besides that....car is a DREAM to drive
thanx

You may need new smark plugs or maybe one of your sensors is bad.
The brake noise could be lots of things, maybe a ,bad caliper, bad brakes, jamed E-Brake, lose lug nuts, un-balenced wheels or a nial in your tire. More info on the noise would help a lot on figuring out the problem. Enjoy the ride.

You're not the only one Demo. It used to happen to me all the time. Adjust the idle. It's not hard at all. Go to the Maxfaqs website, I'm not sure of the address, butI'm sure someone can give it to you if you ask around. It has good, detailed instructions on how the procedure is done.

more info here

alrighty....when the car is in park and i go and stick my head in the wheel well theres that hissing....like a tire losing air. but when i shut the car off it goes away...
it sounds like theres a vacuum leak with a hose and air is being sucked in somewhere i guess....i take it that this isnt a normall noise right.
btw im going to take Your advice on the spark plugs....damn expensive tho....*WOW* CAN$120 + tax

oh....and the cars not giving any codes after i rplaced the knock sensor when i first got it

I think a may have figured out the hissing noise,

The gas tank on the max seems to have a pressure release valve thingy of some sort which makes a weird hissing type noise. Weird thing is I have only heard the noise when my car is off, not on? Hmm, you don't hear the noise at all when the car is off? Other then that I can't come up with any logical explanation other then that.

If it happens when you are at a light, that sounds like the A/C compressor kicking on and off. When it kicks off the RPMS will drop because the compressor isn't putting as much of a stress on the car anymore. When it kicks back on, the RPMS will rise again because more stress it put back on the car. I noticed this all the time in my Altima when I was at a light, I just assumed it normal.

Good idea but your check engine light will go on if you remove your gas cap while the caer is on. Thats not a bad thing if you know how to clear your ecu.

So what are you waiting for, go try it out!

I am pretty sure it is the fuel pump. . . If you take out the rear bench part of the seat you will hear the same thing. I know it drove me nuts when I removed my seat for the day to get my struts installed. It is normal though.

Just stick someone in your trunk equipped with a flashlight and screw driver, and he{the dude in the trunk} will find were the noise is comming from and do the proper repairs. It worked for me!

I got rid of my trunk rattles, due to my system, by getting a Dynamat trunk kit and lining most of the lid with it and then filling all openings in the lid with polyfil. . . It might be a pain, but the rattles in the trunk are gone, now I have to continue work on the spoiler. . .

Water will affect the idle no matter how much fuel is in the tank. Remember, gas is lighter than water, and your fuel pump pulls from the bottom of the tank. I had a problem with water in my tank and it was quite a pain in the derier. I had similar simptoms to what you've described, however, my car would kick and buck until it stalled, like it wasn't getting any fuel....because it wasn't, and the pump was failing. My honda, unbeknownst to me, was a flood car before I bought it, and it had a lot of water in the tank. If you've taken care of your car and given it some dry gas durring the winter months, you shouldn't have a problem with water in the tank.

My 88 does the same thing , Its normal, when in front of the car you cant here it but when I come to the back you can here a small hissing noise, I think its tight. Makes me feel kinda high tech with my 88,
