help....removing hoses fuel filter extremely difficult

I removed my fuel pump fuse, and cranked the motor a few times to try and get the fuel/pressure out of the lines. I removed the screw clamps and pulled like a **** to try and remove the hoses....but they wouldn't come off of the filter! Anyone have any tips here?

Thanks

It's a ***** to get off, especially the bottom one. Just keep pulling on it and wiggle it side to side, twist it and yell at it, it should come off eventually.

Keep cranking the engine, I couldn't believe how long I had to crank mine before the hoses losened enough to yank them off.

A bit of WD 40 sprayed near the tube ending and worked up into the tube a little using the screwdriver does the trick for me.

Don't pull on the hose because it just stretches and tightens itself around the little bump on the fuel-filter neck... what you want to do is as davey said - use a flat-head screwdriver and try to push the hose up and off from the base of the fuel filter rather than pull from the hose end... hope that makes sense... the hose will come off eventually ... just keep at it.

Alright, so I followed the advice in this thread, used a little flat head screwdriver and some wd-40 and it came right off.

Fuel hose acts the same as a chinese finger lock. The more you pull on it, the more it grips on. So, the hose has to be pushed, not pulled.

Use pliers twisting back and forth to break the seal, then use a flat blade screw driver or some pliers ( I like the long bent nose)to push on the end of the hose.

I guess my advice also works for many other hoses around the car: push instead of pulling.

I used a needle nose plier, grabbed the hose over the filter nipple, and twisted to break the "seal". After that, it pulled right off.
Will WD-40 degrade the hose?

WD-40 is a solvent, a water disperser, hence the WD. I thas some lubricating properties, this is why it is used a general remedy for many problems.

Generally speaking, mineral solvents corrupt rubber components. I suppose fuel lines are made of other material, else gasoline would have eaten through them real easy.

on pliers and flathead screwdriver. Get the Z filter. That way you only have to change it out ~1/2 as often.
