Wait 15-20seconds depending on the weather, I wait 20seconds and its hot as ***** here in Miami.. (90-100F daily)..

Your in new york, I would invest in remote start since it is getting much colder out.

I let it run for 15 seconds and drive off. Enough to buiild up oil pressure. Frankly, I prefer to drive off.

Dave B had an excellent thread regarding this..

I over do it. My a$$ wakes up at 330 in the morning and let it warm up till 350 when I start to head to work. I think It rides better than it cold. I also live in new england so I'm kinda used to it.

I have remote start and let it run for the full 12 minutes so my car will warm up. I driving my car cold...its like waking up and getting right out of bed and running a mile.

True.

I let my car warm up a good 10 minutes with my auto start. If the needle doesn't get up past the C, I'll wait. Let your car warm up for a good 5-10 minutes. You don't need the **** up fairy on you.

Great link to a nice thread. Cold winter coming up, and I could have done some serious damage during the winter months. Another reason I love the org so far.

That was a good thread and an interesting read. . . turns out letting my car sit idling for 20 mins with the heat on full blast (to make it nice and toasty when I get into it) is a bad idea. Who would have thought?

Well it turns out I was doing it right the whole time. Good info on that link to Dave B's thread. I usually let it warm up for about a minute. On my wifes's 2000 Civic the owner's manual says that there is no need to warm up the car for several minutes, as this just wastes gas, and it does some other bad stuff that I can't remember right now .
