Maxima Short Shifter cross-applications...

Will ANY Sentra/altima Srhort Throw Shifter STS work on the 4th gen, or only specific brands? Many reputible companies list the same part number for both applicatins, with B&M being one of them. Just wondering.

I don't see why they wouldn't be interchangeable. Just as long as you are using the same applicable years. (i.e. newer Sentras/SpecVs have a different shifter linkage)

If you do try this then make sure the company you get it from has a good return policy...just in case.

check summitracing.com for specific part numbers, they list a part and all cars it works on rather then vice versa (in the application description field of it.)

i believe their b&m sts lists 4 or 5 cars it fits

It may not work. My B&M came with some plastic washer's which I believe would not be used on some applications and some copper inserts that I didn't use...In short, I wouldn't count on it working.

Well...the extra copper parts you didn't use could be used on another Nissan that is listed with the same B&M STS Part #.

That's why you had extras.

When you received your B&M was it not in a sealed package and bearing the same Part # as listed on the website that shows it is used on Sentras and whatnot?

It saves B&M $$$ that way.

I know all that. That was my point. If a STS is made only for one of the cars that you would use the copper filler sleeve things with then it wouldn't fit the max.

... did you get the sealed kit from B&M .. shrink wrapped plastic over a cardboard back, blue anodized base?

i didn't have any extra parts...

those copper inserts you mentioned, they were hollow cylinders no? I used them on mine. they fit inside the pivot ball that bolted to the change lever to make a secure fit.

i hope that if you didnt use those, you used something else... otherwise there is play in your system, i would think
