I have the '99 Bose System. The CD player has great sound quality, but the radio reception is lacking. There seems to be alot of static for local stations (all of them). I never had this problem in my old 240sx. Has anyone else had this problem? I was thinking about cleaning the antenna? What should I use to re-grease it? ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? How do the FM boosters work? Thanks for the help.

Since your CD player delivers good sound, the amplifier section of your reciever is good. The wiring to the speakers, and the speakers themselves are good. The problem lies with the antenna, the wiring from the antenna to the radio, or the receiver section of the radio.

Most likely the problem is with the antenna or wires. My '99 GXE has the standard radio, not Bose. My car has two antennas, a mast and a printed antenna on the rear window. Perhaps your car is the same in this respect. Check for a clean and tight connection of the antenna wires at both ends. If that doesn't improve the situation you could add auxiliary grounds at each end.

My radio had a nasty static problem when brand new. The dealer service department, and later the Nissan Dealer Technical Specialist worked on the car over and over again. They finally replaced the radio for the second time and the problem diminished to "not perfect, but acceptable." IMHO the Maxima audio system is a low point in an otherwise fine car.
