what the hell wrong with A/C
since i bough my car my a/c have been working but perfromance was very poor it hardly cool i know for sure that it has enough 134a gas, no leaks, compressor working ok, evaporator cleaned a few moths ago along with blower fan.
a friend's dad whos is a a/c technician told me even when compressor is working ok it is a "pos" that a may need to swap it for another one or custom fit another he told me i'm not the first one with same issue but the other guy didn't beleive what he told him and he end up buying oem compressor but end up with same results
any advice ?

eh.. I just replaced my evaporator.. God it was disgusting.. the old one.. How did you clean it out? Pressure clean it? lol
You sure the freon levels are correct? I added some freon today because I didnt add enough yesterday and its alot colder than it was yesterday..
(I had to refill since I took out the evap..)

haha i actually just finished my AC Class from the T-Ten program. I could tell ya but i need the reading from when the clutch cycles on and off and the high side readings. Also have to do a touch test. The low Side from the Outlet of teh Expansion valve - the inlet of teh compressor should be very cold and from teh outlet of the compressor to the inlet of the expansion valve. If it suddenly changes in the lines tehre is a restriction which coudl cause poor performance. Also check what the outlet temperature. does this happen after awhile when teh A/C is running or is it warm all the time?

I hope your instructor didn't tell you a "touch test" is an acceptable means to diagnose a system? Can you explain to me what "very cold" or "very hot" is? The pipe between the compressor and condensor is scalding hot, so I don't think its good advice to tell people to go touching stuff like that.
The ONLY way to diagnose an a/c system is with a set of pressure gauges (both high and low side), and thermometers. You can't tell if the compressor is good without determining the system pressures, nor can you determine whether the system is properly charged without reading pressures AND taking into account ambient air temp. High side pressure will change depending on ambient air temperature. This job takes some knowledge and special tools. Under filling the system will starve the compressor of oil and do big $ in damage, and over filling will stress the compressor and do big $ in damage too. Also, overfilling will NOT give you better cooling. If you plan on keeping the car a long time, either study up on the subject or have a pro take a look at it. WWW.ackits.com has a good forum, and your local library may have some books.
Not trying to be a smart-alek, but I don't want anyone to damage a such a delicate and expenisve system in their car.

So I have decided this is not something I can do myself. Should I take it to the dealership for a check or will any Express Oil Change around here work? I know of one in particular that has a sign out front saying they do a/c's. Should any mechanic be able to do this?

If I had to pay someone to work on my a/c, I would either take it to the dealer, or take it to a shop that specializes in automotive a/c. Look in the yellow pages under air conditioning, they are out there. They should be more experienced in a/c than a quick oil change place. Lots of people have trouble understanding how these systems work, so I would take it to someone you can really trust (i.e., not the quick oil change place).
