Have you checked your battery? I replaced my battery, fuel filter, and my sparks plug and now it starts up great.

1. Is your CEL still on? What code(s) has it stored? See the stickys for info. on retrieving the codes yourself.
2. Did you replace the fuel, and air filters, PCV valve, clean the throttle body and IACV?
3. Did you replace the engine coolant temp. sensor (ECTS)?
4. Is it ALWAYS hard to start (hot or cold) or only after its been sitting for a while?
5. Does it turn over at a normal rate, but just not "catch" - or it is sluggish while cranking too?
6. Finally, if the ECU is reporting the Camshaft position sensor (CmPS) error code, this part can be bought for around 60 bucks and replaced easily yourself. If the CmPS is faulty, it can indeed cause hard starting and eventually the car may not start at all.

Sounds like you need to read all the stickies at the top of the 4th Gen Forum. Meanwhile, if your CEL - aka. check-engine-light - aka - service engine soon light is lit, go to your local autozone and have them decipher what codes are stored - the car computer is trying to tell you something when that light stays lit.

Once you have the diagnosis from autozone, go to your favorite mechanic and have them fix it. Meanwhile keep reading and learning!

Cheers.

if a sensor is bad can you reset it so that it can work again
how about a cam ppstion sensor
and a knock sensor
or they have to just be replaced.

thanks for all your help.
