Will removing speed sensor let fluid out the trans?

I got the 0104 vehicle speed sensor a couple times now and want to remove it. I know how and I know where it is but I'm not sure if removing it will cause any trans fluid pour out. I have new fluid waiting to go in and didn't want to put that in knowing it will come out when the sensor is removed. I have to special order the part and that's why I'm asking otherwise I'd change the sensor, drain the fluid and be done with it. Any one with info please share!.!

No! dont do that! all you need to do is remove the tranmission's oil dip stick and that will provide the air opening to let all the fluid out. Removing the speed senor is a lot more time consuming and u risk damaging something! JUST PULL OUT THE TANNY DIP STICK!

Umm... thats not what he's asking. He needs to replace his speed sensor - he's asking if any fluid will come out when he pulls it off. He is not removing the speed sensor to try to drain the tranny...

my bad, i saw that in your info, but i thought you picked up another max and didn't know if that one is auto or not.

i tried looking in my fsm for you but it didn't really mention that, just testing it out. why not just call up your local nissan and ask a tech? i do that sometimes and also did when i changed my speed sensor. goodluck man

Nah, I had the auto before. I looked in the FSM too and it didn't say anything so I decided to ask. I'm not calling Nissan, the dealers around here don't know jack and I'm not kidding. Oh well, I guess I'll wait.

Woops sorry for misunderstanding the question. Well I have replaced my speed sensor before and no, no fluid will come out when replacing the speed sensor. The speed sensor is mounted on top of the tranny and the fluid is below it. When you remove the speed sensor you will have to unplug the wireing harness first and then remove just 1 bolt that secures it. It should just lift up very easily then. Just becareful not to drop the bolt any where. Also to get enough space to work remove the intake manafold the same way you would to clean the throttle body. This will give you tons of room to work with. Should be a piece of cake.

GLuck!
