overfilling the gas tank

Sometimes I cant help it but to fill up the tank past the click, till gas spills out. Is it bad to do this for the car?

Stop driving like a maniac

Give your car a tuneup, its hell of alot cheaper than new paint

yes.... when you overfill the gas tank you run the risk of getting gas in the evap emissions system.... the vapor lines for the system are near the top of the fill tube.. the evap system is designed to handle ...vapor... not liquid gas... so if you get enough gas in the lines you can damage you evap canister and or various valves that control the evap system.... later
