CEFIRO HEADLIGHT INSTALL ?'s

How do you go about installing these the easy way. I have read tons of posts but none get into detail about how exactly to make the fitament look good, not leak and look like they were supposed to be there. Also how exactly do you hook up the H4 harness.....thanks for any help or links.

You can't install these lights without cutting your frame. The Redlinemax how-to is the easiest install guide. If you can't do it with that link, you won't be able to do it. It's really not that hard.

It's just really unclear where exactly to cut and how you are able to go back to stock if necessary...

It shows you in the pictures, are you blind? It's as easy as it gets with the page Chunger posted. Stop bumping it if you already got your answer.

you do not need to cut into the frame. all you need to cut is the fender where the headlights pop in. if you cut into the frame your doing it wrong. you can go back to stock, easiest way is to get a new fender, or weld the pieces of metal back on.

Like killcrap said, if you want to go back to stock, you'll have to weld the pieces back in. It shouldn't be that hard. there are 2 points which need to be welded back in per side. You might even possibly be able to use JBweld or something similar since the bracket that you cut off is just a side support of the headlights.

You can even just bend the brackets down below the headlights, and when you want to return to stock, bend them back up, and weld at the top.

I just used female connectors to fit over the pins... couldn't find any that were a perfect fit.

thanks crap, i'll go to autozone and ask them specifically for this... and get this mod done.

i hear that the maxima doesn't have city lights... i have an i30, so that's why i'm mentioning both corner and city light.

When I installed mine I tried just bending the metal and there was no way to get the headlight in there. Unfortunately you have to cut some of the fender and inner fender. I don't know where else to point you other than the how-to's. It’s really not difficult.

Here is how:

1. Try to install the headlamp.
2. See what it hits.
3. Cut of what ever it was hitting
4. Then repeat process until it fits.
5. After all cuts have been made paint ANY bare metal to avoid rust.
6. Install the headlights.
7. Sit back, have a beer, and admire.

I highly recommend getting an oscillating air saw, to cut the metal. Its very difficult without one. I originally tried it with a pair of tin snips and a small hack saw. I gave up very quickly and put down the money for the saw. It will also give you much cleaner cuts. I think they're about $70 at the Home Depot.

hmm... i don't have an air saw, but I do have an electric version of it.

This is going to be an interesting install. I what I'll end up doing is removing the old headlights and just try to fit in the cefiros and cut anything that's in it's path lol.

good call on the rust issue too... ill have to go get me some touch up to go over the exposed parts.

Just look at the redlinemax.com install guide, and it'll show you EXACTLY where to cut. That way there's no guesswork involved.

And for those wondering how to install their corner lights, just reuse the stock socket from the old corner light. Cut the tabs to fit, and you're good to go. No need to rewire anything but the headlights.

i might just follow your advice here... and since i have an i30, i can just splice the city lights to work directly in there.

You don't need to hook it up.....if you want to, you could put an orange 194 in there and wire it to the blinker, but I put a generic hyperwhite bulb (that isn't really that white, more like blue, ugh) in there. I just spliced into the corner light. Here's what mine looks like:

A little too blue for me (but the ricers like it!), so I'm going to order some polarg hyperwhites like I have in the sidemarkers.

that little bulb (194) is the city light. the i30s come with those wires... the maximas do not, but it shouldn't matter as you can do what the person above me did.

No, LEDs do not have a wide enough projection (I tried amber ones in my city lights). It just looks like a spot and doesn't light up the housing very well. Standard bulbs work much better when your trying to get the entire housing to glow. Now I just need to put some 194 amber bulbs in my corners to match.
