Incredible gas mileage with '00 injectors!
Took a trip to KC on Saturday morning to watch the Nascar Busch Race. I filled up before we left (91 octane) and when we got back 365 miles later, I still had 1/4 tank left. At this point, I have a little bit less than 1/8 and have driven 405 miles. The first 365 were all highway, pretty much 80 mph the whole way. The rest have been in town. With my old injectors, my best was 325 to a tank.
This is even more suprising considering that after the swap, I got 250 on my first tank I ran through it. Guess the ECU has gotten used to them.

Lucky bish. dont wanna turn this into another gas mileage thread, but best we get up here in PA is about 2.10 for 93.

So you think that 00 injectors provide better gas mileage? Well is the performance the same? Are you 100% sure of your findings? U get better mileage with highway driving..
I mean if you can back this up then you might have found the holy grail of mods ...

I am right over 2.00 in Dallas. I also use the Wal-Mart gas card to get discount... INteresting about the injectors. Do they fit the same as 99? I am not sure what the size difference is. Also, how much were they? From Nissan dealer? or where?

Heh, heh. I don't just have the injectors. I did the '00 VI swap awhile back. So technically, I have the Upper and Lower manifolds and injectors. I also removed the EGR system so I could use the '00 TB with the 5th gen IACV. Unfortunately, you can't swap just the injectors.
This was the first FULL tank I've run through it since the first tank when I completed the swap. I haven't checked for knock codes with the 91. I may run 91 through the winter months if there aren't any codes. I haven't noticed the timing getting pulled on my Techtom so I may be okay. I'm running a JWT ECU is the reason I'm worrying about 91. I had some knock problems in the past with the MEVI and the old injectors whenever I ran 91.

On road trips, with consistent 75-80mph driving - I always get 27-28 mpg.

So you got 365 miles using 1/4 tank and then you got 40 miles on 5/8 tank? Guess your gauge isn't working right or it just reads the first few gallons slower. That's why people say not to count your gas mileage the way you did, only using 1/4 tank.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask somethign really stupid...
VQ30DE 4th gens
VQ30DE-K 00-01 5th gens
So wouldnt putting the 00 Intake like you did make it basically the same engine? Wouldnt you have gas mileage just a little bit better than a 5th gen... considering your car is a little lighter.

Well not JUST cali but thats true, 2.53 gallon for me.
I never get more than 330 miles on a tank... I would be amazed to get 400 miles on one tank, Maybe I should take a road trip since 80% of my driving is downtown/city.

Damn, I knew I was going to screw up how I worded it.
When I got home I had USED 3/4 a tank of gas and had gone 365 miles. I apologise for the error. I'm sure there are people who get these kind of mileages but for my car this is incredible.
I will go back and edit the initial post. Sorry for the confusion.

Travis-
That's some pretty good MPGs. These cars really seem to like the highway, especially the lower geared autos and with the mild weather. It's not uncommon for me to get around 28mpg on straight highway driving (75mph/3000rpms). It looks to me like you were getting around 30mpg.

Hey guys, Up here in Canada our 91/92 octane is at least 95 cents per liter to $1.05 per liter which converts to (3.78 liters =1 US gallon) $3.02 Can per Gal to $3.97 Can which with the exchange rate is approx $2.24 US per US gallon to $2.94 US per US gal! !!
OUCH!

I drove from Savannah GA to NY and got about 380 miles to the tank. One tank I got 400. I just kept it on the speed limit. And my injectors are original.
but my city mileage sucks. I get like 18mpg
I dont think the 00 injectors are any different. Maybe just new injectors is what your car needed.
I also use a magnetic fuel saver now. Still havent driven long distance with that in place. It did help my city mileage a little.

I just drove to NYC and back yesterday to drop off my wife's cousin and that was about 220 miles each way. I broke 80 probably twice but kept the cruise set at 75 90% of the round trip. The most I've gotten stock was 463 miles on one tank. I'd like to see what I get now that I'm modded. I want to test that when I do my next long haul trip (maybe Maxus 2005).

Just a sanity note:
The post was about an almost empty tank judged by the not very accurate dash fuel guage and tested once.
Before any conclusions can be drawn, we need a consistent, accurate and repreatable method of testing with multiple tests.
"feels like..." is not accurate information.
In addition, there are so many other variables on the test car, like the whole 2000 variable intake system - lack of EGR etc. that I can't find any parity with my near stock car. Nor can we point to just the injectors.
Interesting thoughts on saving gas milage but careful of rushing to conclusions.
