Incredible gas mileage with '00 injectors!
#42
This is what I thought was incredible (for my car, not maxima's in general):
'96 injectors w/ MEVI : 325 miles w/93 octane
'00 injectors w/ '00 VI and no EGR (first tank the day after the swap) : 250 miles w/ 93
'00 injectors w/ '00 VI and no EGR (after 3 or 4 months) : 426 miles w/91
I finally had to fill up today. 426 miles on 16 gal. of gas: 26.6 MPG
I realize this is normal for some of you, but for my car, it's not. There are a lot of variables, too. No EGR, I'm sure the weather was different, I've done some other mods to the car, etc. The differences were so extreme though, I thought I'd post about it. I thought maybe the saturation type injectors might be a little more efficient than the pulse type. I would love to drive on the highway from fill-up to fill up and see how many miles I could do on one tank.

1. 93 octane does not burn any cleaner than lower octane fuels. Any difference is miniscule.
2. The reason they only have 91 out west is because most of the west is higher elevation which reduces the need for high octane fuel (thinner air means early detonation is less likely).

I get with 91 gas 415 miles per tank on 90% highway and 10% local at about 70-80 mph; if divided by 17 gallons is 24 and if divided by 18 gallons is 23. My car is still in good shape and 5 spd; I don't know what to do to get the 27-28 mpg some people gets, maybe slow down, or replace spark plugs. By the way how many gallons do we need to fill up thank? 17 or 18? sometimes takes a little more over 17. Please advise. Thanks
