No set failure time. Symptoms are typically poor performance (butt-dyno) and intermittent hesitation.. might be other tell-tale signs.. but those are the most common.... sometimes the improper ignition is detected by the ECU an the CEL is set.. (but not always).

You could go to the dealer and buy them, replacing all six will run you about $600. I bought one at full dealer price once for $93 each...returned it later.

Or you could find out which one(s) are causing you problems and find some used ones in the For Sale forum and only spend about $20 each. Or you could keep an eye out on ebay where they sometimes sell for $200 for all six new.

You can actually get new coils for 60-70 bucks a piece from jrnissanparts.com - even less with the "maxima" promo code... so the total cost is more like 360-400 for all 6... a batch of the 99 model year are prone to premature coil failure. If you have a 99 it might be best for you to replace all 6 coils with the updated type. I can't remember off hand whether the Hanshin or Mitsubishi coils are better (or if there even is a difference).

Yeh I got with an .org member today who can check the ?OHMs voltage? to see if they are bad or not and he also offered to give me some used ones he had laying around!
How is your car running after having them replaced?
BTW, after reading your post about just replacing your coil packs made me think about getting mine checked.....

intermittent hesitation is when your car feels jerky. car wants to go back and forth without touching the accelerator of brake pedal.

When? Do you mean in regards to the post in this thread. I had one that was acting up on me, I bought a new one at the dealer and then the car stoped acting up so I returned the coil pack and all was good.

ok nevermind me, I must have completely misunderstood a post...I just knew that you had been doing alot of troubleshooting to see what was up with your dyno. Basically, I get really paranoid about my car since SO many things have been wrong with it.
