Power seat mehanism question

Are the mechanisms for the passanger and driver side seat the same....as in could I put the whole mechanism, rails from my passanger seat to my drivers seat.

Reason behind this is that my drivers seat has some weird play in the power seat and or rail. It's not that the seat isn't bolted down type of play, but the whole power seat mechanism moves about 1" when comming to a hard stop, acceleration, or cornering. It is very annoying to say the least.

I would just take the seats out and see for myself, but that is where another problem lies. My passanger seat is not comming out real easy and I am not even sure if I did get it unbolted that I could bolt it back in. After a day at the track I let my ex girlfriend help by having her put my passanger seat back in the car. Well she crossed threaded all four bolts really bad. So I just have the bolts torqued down as much as possible, still crossed threaded, so at least the seat won't move around. So I hate to go through the process of getting those bolts out just to find out that the power seat mechanisims are not interchangeable. But it would be worth it for me to take the seat out if I knew I could remedy my drive seat issues. Buying a whole new seat for just the mechanism doesn't make sense to me.

Sorry for the detailed explanation, but just want you guys to know why I just don't go try it and find out.

The drivers side has more movement options than the passenger side.. so even if the mechanism fits, you won't have the same movement options.

That is not a big deal, My drives side has the 6-way and passanger 4-way. I would dive that up to have a secure seat.

But I don't think that it will work because of the side of the seat that the controls are on.

Yeah - I thought about that too - but figured that might be ok - I think the new G35 etc. all have the seat controls on the right side of the drivers seat... they are getting flak for that as far as I have read.... don't know if cabling is different on each side? since there are more motors on the drivers side... or maybe the main cable is just power and the rest is local to each seat....

But the controls would be wedged down between the seat and cent counsol(sp?) and I would not be able to get to them. I can't even get my hand down there if I drop a french fry, let alone to adjust the seat.

So why don't you try it for me since I can't remove my passanger seat and let me know what happens
