Outer CV Joint worn out
I've finally figured out what the noise is when i turn the wheel; its the outer cv joint.
this site explains it perfectly:
Continues "clicking" sounds on sharp turns usually indicates a worn outer joint.
Usually the sound is loudest on the joint opposite of the turning direction.
i wanted to know how much it will cost to replace/fix the joint.
i wont be doing the work myself so i'm assuming labor is the biggest cost.
also would it be better to buy the parts online and bring it to a mechanic to install or have him get the parts?
thanx

It's going to cost you the same either you buy your parts and bring it to the guy to do or just go to him "empty-handed".
here's a great write-up on how to do this yourself. I was going to do this on my mazda 626, and the boots cost me i think $12 a piece but I ended up bringing it to my mechanic for help because I couldn't get that huge bolt in the center loose. If you go to a mechanic its around $150.
Where in Brooklyn are you?
