Car starts, then ABS light comes on, then AIRBAG, then car shuts off!! WTF??

Ok, today everything seemed ok, until today around 7:30pm I just finished having lunch with my mother, and my friend, so we leave... and as I'm driving, I get the ABS light coming on, and I'm like what the fck?So' were at the stop light, and I decided hell, lets turn it off and on again. Big mistake the car wont start... Crap, my buddy gets out and pushes it into a gas station. We try to restart the car, with no avail.. but finally we turn the key and the car starts... everything seems ok, we drive it around, and then thats when its starts, and as soon as I put on my headlights, the ABS light comes on, then I turn it off, and the ABS light goes off, so I'm like wtf???? Then the dashboard lights dim some, and the AIRBAG light comes, on, and flickers when I put on the turn signal, then the car starting sturttering, and I cant go past the 2,000rpm's, I would be going 20, and when I braked the odometer would go to 0, and back up to 20 (It would jump, from 0 to 20), we got home FINALLY.... and left the car there, I got my moms car, and charged my car with it, everything seemed fine, until we went for the test drive, everything was cool, until the ABS light came on, and the dashboard lights dimmmed, then the AIRBAG, and again the car sturttered, what can be wrong??? It wont hold a charge, I'm taking the battery to autozone right now, so hopefully I'll get some replies by the time I come back, my buddy told me it might be the alternator??? (how much am I looking at paying to fix/replace that thing????) thanks everyone

Exact same thing happened to me when I got my first system in my car. I was just driving, and I turned bass boost **** up and not alot happened...then the light on my fosgate amp started blinking, lights all over dimmed, lights no dash having seizures and then it died. As soon as I pulled the fuse on my line, it started back up and I could get it home.

yup it s probably u drove into a big puddle of water like in my case lol yeah the alternator is not good with puddle water... chances are u need new battery + alternator (alternator kills battery)... got my aftermarket alternator + installation for 165 bucks done... but i rather go with new alternator cause the rebuilt one sux ***, it doesnt seem to give great output... oh well still got 1 year warranty on it though.. if u see a big puddle drive over it at good speed

theres usually rebuild shops that sell them for $100, mine was a rebuilt OEM, claimed they put in all the components that potentially fail.

But what would you suggest if it's not the alternator, because I've already tried that?

If you're having an issue, you're gonna have to start all over again since this thread is almost 15 years old.
