I dont know if any of you have the BrianV mod or not but I was wondering if it makes the engine a lot louder? I dont really want it to much louder. A little is ok though. I guess this wouldnt have to be the brianV mod it could also be someone with a CAI or just a regular aftermarket intake. Does it make it a ton louder? Thanks

I wouldn't say it's a lot louder, but you will definitely hear it. If you don't drive too aggressive, lets say below 3000 rpm, you won't even notice it. But once you pass 3000 rpm, it gets loud. Mine kinda sounds like an american muscle car.

Ummmmm ... I don't think my JWT intake is "a lot" louder. In fact I barely notice it, with my radio up and all.

So then It wouldnt be that much louder at idle? Or like Maxima48177 said if I stay under around 3K rmps. For example just normal driving around down no gunning it or revving the engine would you be able to notice a big difference? Thanks

Well not exactly, the Brian V mod requires you to pry a piece from the air box in order to connect the filter. I bought an adapter separately to attach my air filter. Everything else is pretty much the samething. So I can put on my original airbox anytime I want. At Idle I can 100% garantee you won't hear a difference. It's only when you rev it up will you hear the difference, but it does get loud when you rev it up.

Maxima48177, Did you do the BrianV intake? Where can I get that part that you were talking about instead of prying the one out of the airbox? Also what size is it and all that stuff so I know which one to get. I would much rather do that than pry the one off. Oh and how much did it cost? Last question. If you buy the piece instead of prying would I still have to use the duck tape? In the instructions he says the reason for the ducktape is because the piece was bent during the prying process. So I thought maybe I wouldnt have to have the duck tape if I got a new piece. Please let me know I was going to do this first thing in the morning! THanks and take care

No, I didn't do the Brian V mod. But what I did is almost the same except I didn't pry that metal piece off and used it as an adapter. Instead I bought an aluminum adapter. There is one for sale on ebay now, look up "maxima intake adapter" and you'll see it. I think it's around $10 right now. I bought mine for like $25. It works great for me. No, i didn't have to use duct tape. Well that depends on the filter you're using. My filter slips "over" the adapter, then it has like a metal collar which I can tighten with a screw. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

yea, the intake is LOUD. if you floor it with the windows open...it's REALLY loud....but a good loud. I can't even hear my exhaust AT ALL above 2000RPMs at more than half throttle. Idle sound is identical to stock. becuause the throttle valve is closed.

I have the Ractive Heat Shield, and I did the BrianV way. It's not loud at all to me, even during acceleration. When I do press down on the accelerator, the engine makes this beautiful growl. It sounds like power standing by.

hey Maxima48177, did you have to reset your ECU when you just put the adapter instead of the duck tape.

At highway speeds, I don't have any problem. If you have your radio on, you really won't hear it. Well let me say that is for the Ractive Heat Shield Filter. I don't know what it is like for other cars. I am completely sold on the air filter. Looks and performance watch out now.

No, I didn't reset my ECU. I'm not sure if I really needed to so I just left it alone. Nothing is wrong so far and everything works great. The intake I feel is only loud when you past 3k rpm and accelerating. I don't really hear much of a difference when I'm cruising at around 90 when it does past 3k rpm. Maybe the wind velocity while the car is at high speed somehow eliminates the sound.
