SAFC throttle sensor check

on my search to correcting my idle issue, i come across a question. My SAFC shows my throttle sensor (under etc -> sensor check) to be 1.6 at idle, lowest was .7 but after cutting car off tonight and putting it at ON, its staying constantly at 1.6. I dont have a multimeter but this could be a great second option if i can adjust my TPS until its at the correct voltage or whatever.

I just need to know what my thr sensor should be showing at ON.

Any recommendations as to how i should go about this?

BTW, my throttle moves around a lot. Sometimes its low %, sometimes its high, i've seen between 0.9%-54%. This doesnt move around that level that fast. At one point of driving its one thing and at another its another....worried my tps might be bad but would like to adjust it and see if its just misaligned since its new engine on old car....and SAFC was added before engine was...

ok, this morning before starting car it was at 2.xxx voltage and once i started car it was at 3.xxx voltage.

If this is the same voltage that somewebsite i seen was talking about (5 volts) then i have to adjust to get to proper spec. Can any of you with SAFC's check your car @ ON when car is fully warmed up or when car is cold in the morning just so i have numbers to work with?

I think your TPS is broken.

btw, why do i think my sensor is still good? cause when i unplug the harnesses from them, the car acts different. When one is unplugged (gray one) car actually calms down, but when brown one is unplugged, car goes straight into crazy mode 100% throttle and 2k rpm...what da dilly yo

quick question...why not pull out the SAFC since you're no longer boosted...? could that be the source of the problems?

I got a TPS sensor if you need one.

my idle was fine with AFC before so i dont think that is causing the issue. I also have two other tps's to work with but i rather save this one than start from scratch cause i'll have to do the same stuff to a new one. anyone have numbers? someone just jump in their car and check thier safc

make sure the tps is not loose it can be rotated a little to accomadate for adj. also i heard if this is misaligned it has to be reset somehow or another so that the car reads the correct opening.

Mecca, the FSM says that TPS voltage at full throttle should be 4V (not 5V). TPS voltage at idle should be around .2-.3V.

Checking TPS voltage with the safc is a very convenient way to adjust the TPS.

Hmmm...I thought that closed throttle was .4-.5 volts? After I took off my PF TB and put the stocker back on I set my TPS at .38 closed. This has given me a 900 rpm idle, which doesn't really bother me. I just did not want to go too much lower than .4 volts.

So I can to as low as .2 to correct my idle?

I can't remember what the .38 closed gave me at open though.

You're right, Mike, I think it is more like .4V at idle. I'll have to check the FSM tonight.

I use about .25-.3V for the same reason as you, anything higher than that raises the idle speed. This results in about 3.8V at WOT. The ecu doesn't care if it is not 4V exactly, just that it is over some threshold value that is actually lower than 4V. The FSM even states something like "about 4V", it doesn't say to hit it exactly.

update:

i put another tps in and i believe the SAFC shows throttle sens to be at .515. My idle is about .800 but the needle sticks at 1000-1200 rpm for a few seconds before going down to .8. Also my AFL is showing 5.X% constantly. Thats very high, before with my supercharger it was between 1.0-1.5%. Maybe i need to adjust my IACV?

and extra update, ecu light gone as far as i know, everything is fixed! besides trash *** new clutch/driveability, i'm very happy wit the car.

to adjust the TPS is just moving it up and down because it has a little slot on the tps?

You loosen the hold down screws and then you can rotate it CW or CCW.
