Engine Rebuild kits

Are there any engine rebuild kits? Like that give you complete gasket sets, pistons and rods (Unless you wanted better), cams and valve springs and all that stuff? Also, how much you looking at spending for one of these kits?

Also, about how much would it cost to get an engine from a junkyard so you can keep driving your car, but rebuild the engine on the side?

Thanks

It's far, far less expensive to get a low-mileage used engine as a replacement instead of rebuilding one.

I'd rather just rebuild the engine, but thats me. Of course we do have a nice shop and my dad works at an automotive machine shop so....

But to answer the question, they do make master kits for the maxima. Master kit consists of the bearings/pistons/gaskets/freeze plugs/etc...Pretty much everything needed. I haven't priced anything on this but I could call the warehouse to see if they could give me an estimate.

Oh, and as far as the used engine goes, that can be a good choice as well. Just get all the information you can on the engine before you agree to it. Most junkyards will also give you a 30 day warranty...plenty of time to get the engine in and running for a few weeks, just to see how its going to do.

You should be able to have a good used engine bought and installed for under $1000.

that's fine if you're never going boost, but a rebuild kit like on the site above is always going to be more $$$ because they're intended for boosted apps.
