auto trans upgrades

I'm looking for info on upgrades for auto transmissions.

I don't want to swap a 5spd in either.
Heres what i know

bullet proof
(level ten,maximumtuning)

vb mod
(don's,maximumtuning)

tranny cooler
(hayden 403/404)

lsd
(us 130t,us ae 2001 maxima, can es maxima and possibly some 93-94 altimas)

new axles
(raxles)

torque converter
(?)
What else can be done? And would there be much benifit from the lsd?

All this stuff will not be cheap.I'm looking to pay over 3000 dollars. Price wise would be.
bullet proof
torque coverter
lsd if used
axles
vb mod
trany cooler

I'm planning on going with everything other than bulletproof and torque converter because i really can't afford everything at the moment.

Somebody must know something about auto trannies.

why not do 5spd conversion when you're planning on doing all those performance mod on automatic?
and plus 5spd conversion will be cheaper than all the mods that you listed.

Because with his proposed setup, he can outlaunch any 5spd and the shifts will be faster. Also, the drivetrain loss will be equal to if not less than a 5spd if he does all this. If he were to boost his car, he'd also be buidling boost through the shifts rather than letting them spool down while shifting.

i really don't car for manuals and every person that has a fairly quick car is manual. The wow factor i get already when i beat somebody and they find out i'm auto is priceless.I was looking at getting a supercharger later down the road but thats still up in the air for reliability problems.Thats the reason for bullet proofing.Without bullet proofing the cost would be around the same as a 5sp swap.

I know what you mean. Autos have just as much potential when they are built strong as a manual. I'm getting a VB mod this weekend, and it'll be here hopefully next week.

id rather have a built auto trany than a 5 spd also. i like the convenience of driving with out worries of shifting, but when i race, or drive for fun i do wish i had a shifter. any way we can have a sport shift tranny lol.

I'd take a built auto too. But, there's something to be said for manually shifting, especially when out for a weekend drive. But if I were driving a boosted car, I'd take an auto.

Mr. Rockford, this is Mr. X.
I think I would be really interested in upping my auto tranny as well.
Although bullet proofing would be nice, it is quite expensive as you've aparently found out too. But I'm definately in for the lsd. I'm not sure where to get it tho.
VB Mod, has it's ups, but I dunno if I want the car to be shifting so roughly each time.
I would really like to ride in a car with the vb mod just so I know what it feels like.
It's one of those mods where you kinda don't go back once you've crossed the line.

Anyway, I'll do some research too, but I just wanted to see if you were up to sharing some info cuz I'm in this pretty seriously now.

Of course, this will have to take place after I fix the fruity tooty selenoid booty. (sorry, I must be smokin again).

Lets keep updatin.

I dunno y I made the previous reply so "professionaly personal," if anyone even understands what I just said.

the request goes out to everyone and anyone who is interested.

I apologize if I sounded like I was selective... I'm not.
I just feltl that I was in the same boat as Mr. Rockford. that's all.
(I'm gonna stop talking now.)

Turbo95max and I did it at his place. No regrets at all. I dont know actual cost but I paid more than most people since I bought half of the stuff new but I would say a couple thousand or so on just parts. IF you or anyone wants to buy my auto let me know

Hmm, I'd kinda like to hear some debate about this. I've been planning to convert to 5spd. If you had an auto with with lsd, tq convert, vb mod and bullet proofing vs a built manual... on two identical turboed cars would the auto be faster? The 300 dollar manumatic conversion only sweetens the deal.

Yes, the auto would be faster. No human can shift as fast as auto tranny and when you shift a manual, you let off the gas which causes the turbo/supercharger to spool down rather than continue to build boost. If the drivetrain loss of a built auto is less than a 5spd, that'll overcome the longer gearing.

So it is possible to make an auto tranny have equal power loss to a 5spd?!

I have a fully built bulletproof tranny. Total cost to me was $3500. I got it done at NRH Transmissions. He can also change the gear ratios for quicker acceleration. He charges about $1800 for the tranny and $3500 with a posi-trac LSD.

And yes I have far less powertrain loss than a 5-speed.

What about adding a fifth gear? Or would we need a TCU upgrade so it knows to utilize a fifth gear?
