Brembo Slotted Rotors?? Help..

Hey everybody..

i am thinking of getting some new rotors for my max... cause as youre all aware of, the stock ones are crap (warp easily).. but i had one question before ordering.. i know there is pros/cons on slotted and drilled rotors.. but i cant remember what exactly they are.. i know one will wear out your pads quickly.. and the other i think will crack easily or something.. so im asking for your help (experienced org members only plz).. i dont want to spend my money on the wrong thing.. thanks in advance to anybody who responds to this post..

Hey, The slotted rotors wear out pad's about 20% quicker than oem or just drilled. But they do not warp under reasonable cirumstances, and they do not crack like drilled. But some people will argue that drilled cool more efficently and, some people have not had problems with there drilled. I would play it safe and go with slotted. The money you save from not replacing cracked,or warped rotors makes up for the accelerated pad wear. That's jusy my opinion though.

i beg to differ about you saying that the OEM rotors warp easily. I went 60K miles on my original rotors before I made the swap to Brembo front and rears. Obviously, the Brembo's are a better quality rotor compared to stock. I'm happy with my Brembo slotted brakes and OEM pads.

2-1/2 years and 40,000 miles on my Brembo Plated and x-drilled rotors.
No sign of cracking, excellent smooth braking.
No rust or corrosion on the plated hub area either, there nice and clean.

I believe x-drilled rotors don't hold up so well on cars that auto-cross due to the high heat caused by extream braking. Slotted is the rotor to use if your into auto-cross. On the street, you should be fine with a quality x-drilled rotor.

I also diagree with your statement about the OEM rotors, I'm on the OEM rotors with 111,xxx miles and they still stop just fine. But I'm glad you started this threat as I am thinking about going cross drilled or slotted or both soon, with new OEM pads.

I have dimpled and slotted brembo rotors on the way this week, with some porterfield pads ready to go. I'll let you guys know how it feels once they're on.

I thought that cross-drilled would wear pads down faster than slotted, cause it's sort of like a cheese grater. Ha maybe the same analogy doesn't apply.

stock rotors will probably last awhile id you are not going over 100mph all the time. slotted rotors are the way to go, i have drilled and slotted now

hey guys.. i never said anything about the OEM rotors not stopping well.. i said they "warp" easily.. ive got 135,000 on em and theyve been warped since 100,000.. so i am going to upgrade them.. so how can you say anything rwatt1981.. you swapped them out early.. anyways thats not the reason for this thread..

i want to know which is the one that wears the pads quicker.. im sure they are both good.. but i dont really race it or stop from excess speeds of 100+ mph on a daily basis.. i just want them to be better than stock and not have to replace the pads all the time.. just trying to upgrade from the stock ones.. so from what it sounds like if im not doing auto-cross.. then the cross-drilled ones are just fine, and if i was then the slotted ones are the ones to go with (they just wear the pads about 20% quicker).. right??

too much holes/drills/slots, rotors may break easily in the long-run. (hopefully not on mine)

so why not get either/or instead of both.. obviously they are both good.. the slotted may stop better but you pay for it in the long run becuase they wear down the pads quicker.. so if youre not racing them all the time and hard on the brakes on a daily basis then the drilled are just fine..
