cv shaft
cv shaft
Anyone can help me out with this?
I got 1999 max se auto and i wanted to order a cv shaft (axle)
1. Should I get limited slip differential or without limited slip differential (whats the difference)?
2. How do I check if my car is with abs brakes? I never got the car manual and nor I see any signs of abs at the dashboard
3. It says that the axle nut is torqued at 200 lb's. When tightening the axle nut with breaker bar, is there some sort of rule of thumb I could use to get it torqued at 200 lb's without any torque gadgets?
Thank you in advance

1. Limited slip was only available on the Canadian model as far as I know. Get W/O limited slip.
2. When you turn the ignition on, you should see an abs light (orange) glow for a second or two. If you don't see it, you probably don't have it. You can also look under the hood near the brake master cylinder for the abs modulator.
3. I just torqed the nuts with a breaker bar and an extension (jack handle on the breaker bar) with some good torque to make sure it was damn tight. By hand, you most likely can't get it more than 200lbs, but with air you can get up to 400+. Do not use air to put the nut back on. You risk damaging your wheel bearings and the outer joint again.
