Technosquare ECU for 1999 MAXIMA, 99's rejoice

Well i have been in contact with technosquare following the progress of the 1999 ECU upgrade development and i have some promising news. they have made a prototype with 7200rpm rev limit ECU for a 2000 maxima and belive that since the 1999 ECU is so similar that it can be done to a 1999 ECU.
Now for the hard part they need a car to attempt this on.They also explained that there is no relationship between the ECU and the Immobalizer in the car. i have offered to purchase a 1999 ECU to send to them but they said they would need to test it on an acutal car for dyno tuning. if anyone in southern california is interested give them a call and see if you can help them out, i would but i live in massachusetts (go red sox) and this makes it difficult.
here is technosquare's contact info Company Information

Well how would this work with our cars? Dont we have the security chip, so bascially our car would be down for a few months while we wait to get ecu back?

I hope they get somewhere with this, its about time.

we do have a security chip(immobalizer) but this is a seperate system from the ecu. plus its not JWT they don't take months to do your stuff. if you over night the ECU , i was told it only takes one day to do the Eprom and Actual upgrade. so your looking at most 4 day turn around time.

if there are any questions you guys have that i have missed feel free to call them.

Just talked to them. They've never seen a 99 SEL ecu before and they wanted to take a look. I'll drop by tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct 26) at 1pm and let them take a look at mine. I'm guessing from what I've seen on the 2000, that is is the exact same.

Let's get this thing rolling.

sweet, thanks alot man let us know how it goes and hopefully it is doable. and since there seems to be alot of us who are interested maybe we can also get a group deal going to so we can get these at a nice little discount.

Ok now i understand the security chip. Thank god its a seperate system, im so excited for the ecu now. Hopefully they get it all ready to go by spring, cause tax returns = MEVI + ECU for me!

i Spoke with brian at technosquare and was told that they will know by tomorrow after looking at the ECU. Hopefully our ECU's are closer to the 2000-2001 cars because that is the only way we can get the REV limiter increase.
Lets hope that the 99 ECU and the SEL ecu's are close. i would think the SE-L ECU's should atleast be close since they are such a late production date.

So 7200 RPM limiter is nice if they can do it, but that's not all, right? Do they adjust any of the ECU programming for better performance? I know we can't get tons of HP like a chipped VW, but can we get something? Even if I got MEVI or 2KVI I'd hope for more than simply a higher rev limit.

MaxMods (thanks drewm) says
A peformance ECU advances the timing and remaps the air-to-fuel ratio throughout the RPM range. It also removes the speed limiter. This mod is usually good for around 10-15 HP.
I hope this applies to Technosquare's intentions with the 99-01 ECUs.

i hope you know that the only reason vw's seem to gain a lot from their ecu upgrades is because the boost is ALWAYS turned up with an aftermarket ecu. if it wasn't, their gains would be well below ours.

i cannot speak for the ts ecu, but my jwt altered the fuel maps, advanced timing, and raised my revlimiter. definatly a good mod.

i think it was Drewm, they were talking about because i have been talking with them and they said the needed a car in to take a look at the ECU, hence my post.Hopefully tomorrow we will have an answer once and for all.

if they are able to tune or alter the ECU they will do Fuel, ignition timing and rev limit. speed limiter doesn't apply to us SE's so i don't care if they can raise it if there is one (140MPH is as fast i am going to take that thing). so pretty much all we can do is wait and hope nissan was cheap and did change anything from 99 to 00. i guess if anyone wants more info on what they did to the 00 ECU give them a call or PM Larrio from the 5th gen forums. he has one of the 00 ECU's

i have the 01 5spd ECU, they haven't even touched the 00's yet. And just for the record, i'm still on this spare ECU which i've had for the past 4 months! Now tell me how TS is going to release a final ECU program for 00-01 when they haven't even returned mine or tested it on any 01 for that matter. I'm a little annoyed right now at TS, i'm heading in on monday

i don't know what they are going to do but tomorrow we will know if it can be done on a 1999 and for now that's all i am concerned with.
if they find out it can work i don't mind waiting a couple months for them to fine tune the program..

i doubt they will fine tune the program. They've had my 01 ECU back from japan for two months just collecting dust. I'm going on monday just to pick it up, no more testing.

TS refuses to do any GDs after the last 95-96 maxima TS ecu GD ended up with only like 10 buyers out of 35. But who knows, that was with their original guy Danny who doesn't work there anymore.

hmmmm i hope this is a reallity a built head with a 6500 rev limit is such a waste.

drew if you read this in ask a few questions about fuel mapping for maximas with FI. also ask if they are gonna break down cali spec and fed spec.
it turns out that there are close to 20 different ecu variations within 99 alone so i wonder how they are gonna be doing this.

I'll try and do that tomorrow. I know JWT can do fine tuning for FI, not sure if TS has done it before.

I'm going to get an update from Danny today. If it isn't done by tax season, I'm scrapping it on my end.

Do you have any idea how much time and effort they put into developing the modified ECU program? I have bought 3 TS ECU's and happily paid the price, knowing that it was worth it.

Deezo: In case you missed it, Danny is no longer there.

i agree $495 or $595 whatever they decide to charge is extremely fair in my opinion for the potential it unlocks. Something like your engine computer is not something you wanna skimp on. the only reason i mentioned the gd is because i figured it would be ok since they ran one before but i didn't know it wasn't sucessful for them. In any event i rather pay Technosquare than JWT. i have had a JWT ecu prior on my S13 240sx and while i liked it, i hate their service and techs so never again.

That's friggin nice to know. I just talked to Brian who works there and I have to send all of the info to him now. Plus, it's probably not going to be the $380 I was quoted.
