shouldn't have to, if you are doing the drivers side, it takes a little effort to pop it out, and according to my haynes, if you have an auto you may have to remove the passenger side and push the drivers side out that way. I've got a 5spd and it just took a good tug and it popped out

Ok finally finished this, all you have to do is grab the damn axle from the middle and pull it with all ur strength... no prying bs... my neighbor helped me with this... he just pulled it out and bam it came right off... by old boot was in pretty bad shape (no bearing ***** at all)... I m dissapointed though since when I drive and apply brakes or on other occasions I hear the noise (crrrrrrkkk) still... i guess it was not related to my axle... can anyone tell me what the heck this noise is... its like a krrrrrkkk sound whenever i apply the brake or when i drive on bumps, etc... or regular driving... seems to me like suspension?

No i did the driver side but it seems to be same thing, the passenger side is just longer axle to reach the tranny... my passenger boot has some cracks in it but not ripped or leaking... i think i will get some fix boot paste... its a messy job this one

Without a sound clip - we don't know exactly what Amulla01 is hearing - but when I got my new struts put on, the shop used the old isolators (that were worn) and I kept getting all sorts of rattles metal resonating/vibrating sounds when I would go over a series of little bumps - never happened over big/smooth bumps - always happened over ruts etc.
