strange noise

I have this weird noise comming out from front (probably) sounds like a "crrrrrrkkk" repoeatedly when i press on the brake, or bumps or during uneven road driving... I changed my broken boot and axle and its still there. Today i noticed the bar where the springs are have no boot on them (the boot that covers the bars inside the springs is ripped... both side are the same way... what do i need to do about this? Could I add some fluid to make it better? What is the problem I m facing now?

yeah i think so lol... i just bounced the front of my car and i can hear crunks from the right side front springs... if i order this "GABRIEL_ULTRA STRUT" from autozone for 70 $, does it have the rod, springs, bearings? is it the whole thing or what? I never did this job before... also I dont need the spring compressors right? just take the old one out and put this one in?

www.motorvate.ca - has instructions on replacing the strut bearings - its the same thing to replace the struts. You need to buy the struts, springs, bearings, boots and strut mount seperately.... You don't HAVE to replace all those components - but I would definitely recommend replacing the boot if your old boot has disintegrated and bearing along with the strut. Check the mount to make sure its not the root cause of your problem - you may need to replace that. If you want to lower your car or a firmer ride you might want to replace the springs too, otherwise you should be able to re-use the springs (assuming no cracks/broken coils etc).

The strut bearings are 20 bucks a piece - it won't cause the sound that you are describing. A bad strut bearing causes creaking sounds when the wheels are turned, not when the car is bounced up/down - that would be either the strut mount or the strut itself.

The cost varies depending on what struts you opt for.
