Brake Cleaner

Hey guys,

My rear right break wheel brakes are making a really annoying sqeeeling sound only while i am reversing and I already tested to see if the caliper was sticking or if it was the break pad's. I am 99% sure its the break pads because when i turned the wheel while the car was jacked up the wheel turned perfectly fine.

My question is that can i spray some break cleaner or some break noise reducer without taking the breaks apart first? Like can i just remove the wheel and spray this cleaner onto the pads and caliper and see if helps or cleans out the dirt that might be causeing this noise or is this bad for the break pads?

I don't see why brake cleaner would do any harm to the pads - but I don't think its going to help with your squealing. You need to remove the pads and apply some anti-squeal on the back of the pads and shims - the part that contacts the caliper.

If that doesn't fix it - the most likely your pads are dragging slightly.
