Ok, since you said you didnt paint your engine like that I wont say too much about it. But buy some paint thinner and a a$$ load of rags and go to town on that! As for the oil leak....I am guessing you are talking about the front Valve Cover. I see a little bit of build up there, nothing that looks overly concerning. Gasket from the factory is cheap. Install is easy. Just buy a Chilton manual. The front one should take like 20 minutes to do. If its the rear Valve Cover then its a considerable amount harder. You have to take off the Plenum (upper intake).

If you dont see oil under your car then I wouldnt be too concernded with a small leak. Get it fixed at some point before it is a major issue. As for the depainting of your engine. Thats gonna be tough. I would just start replacing hoses cause those will be impossible to clean. I would not use paint thinner on them. The other stuff....metal parts...take them to a paint shop and have them bead blast the snot out of it. That would be the easiest way. Other than that get out a drill with some sort of sander attachment. Good luck!

i have the same thing. In my case its from checking the oil and not wiping the oil off the dipstick when i put it back in, clean it up once and then notice that it originates from the dipstick insertion hole

Maybe the original owner who painted it wants it back for his civic.

The dealer actually picked it up from an auction in Boston or Ny i forget which one. for the price i paid for the car *** the silver engine i can live with it i paid 3,800 for the car w/ 110k miles and 6month warranty He also did the timing chain and water pump for free. Yea the kid must of thought he had a civic, but the car runs flawlessly besides the fact that the idle is a bit high its around 1k. But hell ill throw around a couple hundred dollars even a couple g's to fix the minor stuff.
