Ride Difference Between KYB GR2 and AGX
I realize the latter are adjustable, but what would listers recommend between the two with stock springs? I'm looking for a ride that's slightly firmer than stock, but not bone jarring. This is my daily driver and just want to firm up my 135k mile stock suspension. I believe my current shocks are complete toast at 135k.

how can you tell your stock are shot? are they squeaking?
I know from what I've read online that the GR2 are ( I believe ) 2 times stiffer than the stock settup, and the AGXs well it can be a little bit looser than stock up to about 5 times stiffer than stock (since its adjustable).
but I would also like to hear from those who have each and how the like the ride (especially the GR2 people)

I have a GR-2's with S. Tech's(quite a bit lower than stock) and they do a good job of keeping the ride firm, especially for the price.
I may someday up the front struts to AGX to further firm it up, but for right now the GR-2's are all good
For you....with stock suspension, the GR-2's will more than do the trick, the AGX might be overkill if you're staying stock
and nothing rides like a new set of shocks

i prefer the AGX. when the are on 15% stiffer they are still too stiff for daily use. I run them at the OEM setting (1f/2r) with any spring. Then when i want a crazy rough ride i crank them up to full stiff. But out of all the options id get the Illuminas.

I have warpspeed springs (about 2" drop) and GR2's on my 96 i30 w/ 130,000 miles, I've had them on there for about 40,000 miles and have not had a problem whatso ever, the ride is a bit stiffer than stock but not bone jarring, works well and smooth enough for my daily drive, fairly cheap and gets rid of that nerdy fender gap

I've had both, with stock springs. The AGX's were way to stiff for me, even in their softest position. I currently have the GR-2's and they are perfect in my opinion. Not too stiff, but definitely a notch or two stiffer than stock. Good luck.

I just picked up my car from the shop today. At 125k the stock suspension was completely shot so I put in Springtech springs which are 2 inch drop, and the GR-2's. It rides SOOO much better than the stock broken suspension. I havent checked the handling yet because I still need an alignment, but the ride is not really that stiff.
My last car was a 94 BMW 325 with 2 inch drop H&R Race springs and Bilstein sport shocks and that was 10x stiffer then my setup on this maxima, almost too stiff for me and I can handle stiff. It felt like parts of my car were going to break if i hit a pothole. I have the new car, the maxima here at school in Ithaca, NY where the roads are REAL ****ty. The GR2's soaks up the potholes very well and gives me more feel and response in the steering than stock, but its still no 3 series. I might get a smaller steering wheel which i think would help because I feel like im driving a bus with the stock maxima one. Anyway, i like the GR2's so far but Ill have a better idea in a week once I get the alignment and the springs settle a little giving me probably another 1/4 inch on the drop.
