Aamco sucks at security
Last week I took in my 98 Maxima for a complete tranny rebuild... $2200 coming out of my pocket. I wasnt too happy about the price, but whatever, my car's gonna get fixed. They told e they were gonna "shoot for monday" to get it done and give it back to me. Today, two days later, I get a nice phone call saying the car that was going to be ready today for me after waiting almost a week(transportation's hard to come by in my family) was broken into last night; apparently there were too many cars, and not all of them fit into the garage. I'm not saying my car is "the shiznit", but wouldnt a car that gets stolen more often, like the Maxima, have priority over other cars in the garage? The guy tried to steal it, but couldnt, because there was no transmission in the car to get it moving. He broke my passenger side rear window, which was limo tinted, and my steering column, apparently he tried to start the car with a screwdriver. That made my day. Now, the guy at aamco says I'm not going to get my car this week because of the parts the have to order for my car.
Obviously they're gonna pay for the damages, but when I said my window had aftermarket tint on it, he hesitated in saying that they would replace it. It would be ridiculous if I had to pay for this out of my pocket. What should i do?

Just try to reason with the guy. Always try to be polite. If you are polite and reasonable that usually gets you more than being an ****. But when all else fails be an ****. Did you sign anything saying that they where not liable for such types of vandalizm on their property? If not then one can assume you left your car in the possesion of a reputable business with good faith that nothing like this would happen. Small claims court...........

I try to be as polite as possible, and I spoke with the manager, they're gonna pay for the part and installation, but i'm concerned about my window tint, the guy was kind of "standoff-ish" about the whole thing, he asked me "did you have AFTERMARKET tint?" If it has to go to small claims court, it will, but that will endup wasting more time, even with a good outcome.

alright, so i'm not crazy. They told me they were responsible for the car, not "the car minus the tint and whatever parts you might have on it" I just hope nothing else is missing. I've had enough surprises from this little endeavor. The azzhole probably took all my change from the slide out drawer. If i find out that happened, then i'll be really pissed.
I was kinda hoping the guy could do more damage, so my insurance could cover it, and i could get a turbo kit, or maybe lowering springs and a stillen kit, but i'm just stuck with a broken car.

I know it's too late now, but next time ask here first before spending that kind of cash...sounds like they're charging way too much for that.
I had no functioning 2nd gear and no functioning O/D. Torque converter was shot.
I know it's alot of money, but places around here charged 1500-1800 plus parts with a 6 month warranty, instead of a year warranty that I get with Aamco. After this crap, i don't think i'll ever leave my car to any garage overnight, or if I do, i wanna see it go into the garage myself. You know, it's funny, if my car would have been fixed, and the trans was in place, i wouldnt have a car now.
I really have to look into buying a good alarm, i'm thinking of buying the Viper one, i heard it's one of the best.
