?'s about painting my altezzas like a skyline

questions on painting altezzs skyline style

ok i taped off all the circles on my carbon fiber altezzas, i have the dark green plastic paint that matches my car but dont know if i should sand the background or primer and do i need the reverse light's (side markers) i was told i dont and painting over them would be easyer but dont wanna get pulled over daily for not haveng them

any one with pictures of finished product please post

i dont thing you would need primer...thats just me...just prb the paint and clear coat...just make sure to start out with mist coat and work the layer by layer for better results i painted mine transparent candle apple red with my cf tails...

everybody that i have seen used primer considering you are painting on plastic i would suggest it.

I would suggest that you do sand before primer or painting. I personally have not painted Altezza's but I have painted plastic before such as ventvisors. The paint will eventually chip off because the paint won't stick to the smooth plastic surface. I used 800-1000 grit sand paper just to roughen it up a bit, nothing crazy. Then primer, paint and clear coat, it'll last much longer.

I haven’t painted altezzas but I do agree with the sanding of the plastic. It helps the paint adhere to the plastic a lot better. And since the lights are going to be out in the weather, I would recommend a good plastic primer...

Dont sand it. Use a sandable primer. Make sure you get nissan paint from the stealership. I have not gotten new pics up since a cleaned the car and waxed the old paint to match the new paint on the tails. Here is a pic since u asked for the post. More on webpage---follow link.
