I have a 97 GLE with 20k miles. Could I beat a V6 auto Mustang convertible. I don't know what year it is for sure but its probably as old as mine. I just got my car a week ago and I probably won't ever race the mustang but I'm just curious. I'm a newbie to racing so what would be the best away to accelerate from a stop with an automatic?

Actually after doing more research I've answered the question myself and I should easily be able to beat it. Before 99 they only have 150 HP V6 and the mustang even weighs more. I think edmunds.com had a 0-60 of 10 flat for it while giving my gle 7.9

You should have no problem at all taking that car, i used to drive a 1991 190e mercedes 2.6 and i beat a 99 v-6 which i think has close to 200hp to my 150hp.

You should have no problem. . . I took a non-convertible 5-speed easily by about a car length to 60 and I wasn't trying very hard. . . Probably revving to 5K at most in each gear. I didn't realize how hard the guy was trying until he chirped the tires shifting it into second. . . Suprised me that it was that easy, although my g/f say the guy couldn't drive a 5-speed, she was in the car at the time, so that might explain something.

I see a lot of people talking about how fast the V6 Stang is on other boards and I can't see what they mean. I rented one out in the midwest and took it up onto RT44 in OK and it was corny as hell. Felt nowhere near what the Max feels like accelerating.
