This mod has been around for years. I used the same technique in 95 on my Sentra SER. Where the gold piece goes into for k&n,bend it with vise grips outward 360 degrees to create a funnel shape. No duct tape is needed,this mod is before the maf(no vacuum loss, at least on the ser). For cheap cold air, buy some 3" pipe from a place that sells diesel parts. Ah, Its great to be back....................

 

Hey well after prying out that gold piece you'll notice that it's very bent. And although the computer's ECU won't recognize a vaccum leak, you will have one. Not to mention the whole intake system is under vaccum so you could suck in unfiltered air very easily if you do not take precautions. Also, I never named it the BrianV Intake Mod, I just called it using a generic filter on a Maxima. Maxima.org members named it the BrianV mod.

 

yup hehe. alot easier than calling it the mod with the generic cone and gold metal thingy with duct tape.

Wow I've done it a few times, but I just usually rip it out.

 

I didnt even realize others did this. I was just being cheap. I part where it bolts up has to be flat,and I made a rubber gasket for it. Where the metal meets the filter,it will not cause vacuum leak,but may have unfiltered air,try a hose clamp.

 

Another thing I used to do,before k&n extremes came out. Cut the top of the k&n off,not the entire top,just the inner part where it is just rubber and no filter. Razor blade does the trick. Put a/c filter material over that,not the fiber stuff,use the foam,you can even double it up. Secure with a hose clamp at the top

 

now thats really ghetto work right there.
