I have read numerous threads on upgrades and modifications relating to lights and lighting. I am unable to get some direct advice on installing the stock Nissan fog lamps on my '97 GXE that did not come with them...is this a relatively easy thing to do? Any How to's out there? Any issues/problems? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I have a 98 GXE and am looking to get some of these too. From what I understand, if you have a GXE with manual tranny, you are prewired for the fogs. The connectors should be near the bottom of the engine compartment, taped to something. You just have to mount them, plug them in to those connectors, add a relay and new switch on your steering console. All of this comes with the kit. From JerryRome Nissan I think they are about 160 if you use the discount code "maxima."
If you have a GXE auto, I don't think that you are prewired for fogs. Your install would be more difficult then. I am not 100% sure though.

Can anyone confirm this for a 96 GXE Auto? I am going to get the fogs pretty soon and this would be some very useful info. Thanks in advance!

you just need to check if your GXE is prewired. If you take out your blinkers you can see the wires taped to blinker wire. thru the whole where blinkers were mounted. Mine's 97 GXE automatic and I added the foglight. install is fairly easy and it shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes. just make sure your GXE is prewired before you order your fogs.

I dont think its prewired . I just put in clears and only had 2 connectors. One for the side marker and one for the blinker. What to do? I want the factory fogs.

I think wiring not prewired max is whole different story.
I believe it can be done, but wiring will be not so easy task.

GXE's should still be pre-wired. the wire is taped together hidden under the bumper. find it. Otherwise, nissan stealership will cut off your nuts charging you to install it

I was the one who originally posted the question. OK...so there ought to be a prewire link taped near the blinker wires or near the blinkers near the bumpers somewhere.

I am hearing three different stories...GXE's with stick are prewired, GXE's automatics are not (maybe), and all Maxima's (GXE's) are prewired regardless...any firm confirmation out there?

Is there anyone who has actually attempted to install the Stock Maxima fog lights for a 97 Maxima??

You know how it is on these forums...one story contradicts the other etc.

Thank you.

Any confirmation on this kind of modification: stock fog lamps for a 97 GXE...are all Maximas pre-wired? If so, is there a kit / parts needed?

Has anyone completed such an upgrade?
