Shock Sensor = wonders!!!

I suggest everyone to install a shock sensor to their stock car alarm if they have not done so. Stop all those low lives from stealing / tampering with our cars.

so it was 2:30am and I just turned out the lights to my room and 5 minutes later.. I hear my car alarm go off!!! It wouldn't go off unless you try to unlock the doors or give it a firm bump so I go running outside to see who the **** is messing with my baby. damn low lives....

If anybody is interested in getting one, I can get you one real cheap (i paid $4 bucks shipped). Installation was pretty easy too.. took about 30 minutes plus some fine tuning on getting the sensor just right.

Not sure, set your alarm and bump your car a little and see how long it takes for it to stop. Let me know since I'll be adding mine when I take out the Bose stereo (to fix the display prob)

I bought 1 shock sensor from eBay a long time ago, but the guy sent me 2 of them for some reason Just to lazy to put it on, but now I will since the stereo will be out.

Where did you wire yours?

i zipped tied it to the metal framing inside when you remove the stock stereo. it was a better location than on top of the BCM box

where did you get it from? $4 is a pretty good price! I've wanted one for awhile but there was a chance the stock alarm went off forever. Now that I know it doesn't.

you know you can disable that by clipping the horn's wire without even popping the hood. I think both horns are on the same harness too.

Now you mention clipping the battery....where can I find a low-feed/no-waste rottweiler to permanently live in my car?

I have a shock sensor...that works. Paid $19 in town because I was in a hurry.

i dont even count on alarms anymore. stock or aftermarket. if someone really really wants your car, they are going to get it....ive seen it all living in New York, from cutting to battery cable to cutting the horn wires..... noone even turns their heads when alarms go off anymore, its like birds chirping to us, we've gotten so used to it.

man, I'd be too worried to mod my Max if I lived in NY, I would think as soon as you put on some noticable mods, your car might get stolen, unless you have a garage at your house(doesnt stop some people some times) or a garage like you'd see in the city that has a lot of security.

just cant have anything nice in NY

well this mod was a fairly easy one to do and doesn't take that much time to do it. and plus you get the warm fuzzy feeling for making your max a little safer and more secure than before

I installed a shock sensor a while back with aznprid972's hookup. I dont really think that it will prevent someone from stealing my car but it is nice to have. It is really good to know that if someone bumps my car in the parking lot next to my apt, the alarm will go off and I can look out the window to catch the person. I use a truck club as a theft deterrent...

Are there any instructions on installing the shock sensor? Where do you wire it to?

depending on where you live, a shock sensor would be a big plus. Most fools in my town dont know who macgyver is and all they do is smash and grab theft, but they'll run if an alarm goes off, especiallly if its in front of a house. its also good to get a trunk sensor, i dont think the stock alarm goes off if the trunk pops. I'm gonna modify an alarm to use tear gas against a theif. that'll show em.

yeah, the stock alarm has a sensor that activates when you pop the trunk "illegaly". Same with the hood and doors. But one has to wonder about the sunroof. Whats to keep a skinny dude from smashing that open and crawling down through it?

The stock alarm goes off in about 1-2 minutes. A lot of states, like NY, give fines to alarms that go off for longer than this unnecessarily so car manufacturers just make them that way stock.

Yes, anyone that really wants your car will get it regardless of anything, what you want to do is make YOUR Maxima the less easy target. But in the end of course they can always flatbed it and good-bye.

OnStar is great but we don't have that option. Lo-Jack blows in my opinion. I did see a Viper alarm system with GPS, that looked interesting.

Anyway, a shock sensor is a good idea for the occasional crackhead that just does a smash and grab and doesn't really want the car, just something quick to sell like the radio or some spare change.

Also, my old car (96 Cutlass) got totalled parked in front of where I live. The only reason I caught the guy that hit my car is that I recognized my alarm siren, looked out the window and saw his car was tangled in with mine. I quickly called the police as I was running down the steps and caught the guy. Few months later got my car totalled out and now I'm a proud Maxima owner.

All thanks to a shock sensor. Well worth the time.

if you want to get your car back after it's stolen, get one of those gps trackers. I don't know how much they cost buy I know you can buy them. Just hide it behind something obscure (a gap between panels or something), and if you call the popo soon enough they should be able to track ur car's location.

I found the link to the Viper GPS website. You can track your car with your computer anytime you want, even the speed. So if you let your friend, brother, etc., borrow your car for some insane reason, you can track it, see where they are, how fast they're going, etc. The only thing that would make me hesitate about this system is that Big Brother would be watching too. Imagine if an insurance company could see how fast you were going all the time... would they still give you the same rates ? Anyway, below is the link.

I'm assuming that your alarm is ON if your doors are locked. The alarm goes off if you turn on the lights because it senses the changes in current when the bulb turns ON and draws power.

A lot of alarms have this, it's current sensing.

Werd! I've seen tow truck drivers drag a car, in park, out of a parking lot. Then, after it's nice and quiet, put it on their flatbed. All the fancy alarms in the world ain't gonna stop that. Tho, maybe a shock sensor would help..in the 1 minute it takes to drag it away (hook it up with chains, and put the tow truck in drive).

I worry about the macguyver who secretly wires your maxima in the middle of the night, without notice. Creepy..heh.

GPS? maybe....but with my $3K Maxima, eh...I'll take meh chances.

The best theft deterrent? Never wash or clean your car! Make sure it has dents from plenty of years of abuse.

buddy of mine left his 4 foot boa under the seat of his truck while at work. All it did was chill on his amp under his seat. I wouldnt go to that extreme but I never heard of anyone taking his ride. I got motion sensor lights and a camera on my driveway.
