is the BMW manual? if its auto i think it will either be very close or you'll beat him. I've raced a 95 325is auto.. smoked it very badly..... like 3-4 car spaces by
120 km/h..... A friend also has driven a 328i auto as well as my max (auto) and he thought that it was pretty even...

I would not advise racing him if hes driving a manual or auto, my best friend had a 98 328i before he got an M3. I have an 99 auto max and i would have to say his car would beat me by a couple car lenghts. Also my Dad is a BMW guy and he has a 01 330i auto ehich has 25 more hp than the 328 and the 330 takes my Bro's 00 5spd SE consistently by a car lenght. I was a in the 328 when he raced another one of my good friends in a 99 Seville SLS and beat him from a stop and i dont think an auto max would stand a chance vs SLS. The BMW is a very light car and they fly at high RPMs. Hey give it a shot and tell me what happens. Good luck

330i

the 330 has 35 more hp than the 328... 190 (actually its 191 i think) vs. 225 for the 330. my stepbrother has a 93 325i 5 speed, and i have obviously driven it. its pretty quick. we have not gotten a chance to race... but i think that given the same driver ability his 325i and my 96 5 speed would be very very close. i'm a better shifter than he is however, so i'll take him.

The 325i doesn't make nearly as much torque as the Maxima.

325 - has a 2.5l 6 ... still making gobs of lowend torque for its engine size. 328's are another story......

bimmers are unusual in that one couldnt guess at their accel times being so fast just by knowing their hp, weight, etc. Bimmers are able to acel so fast w/ the same hp b/c of their power conversion (when the engine's power is transfered to the wheels) This depends on their gear ratio's, etc. plus the fact that theyre rwd.
