Do you drive in fog that much, or is the purpose purely to annoy other drivers? One of my personal pet peeves are morons who drive around with their fog lights on for no other reason than they think it looks cool (it doesn't, it just screams "I'm a moron"). It looks especially dumb with non-HID headlights.

On a practical note: how would you "aim" these? Are there adjustment screws on the fog light housings? With HID's, if they aren't aimed precisely, they WILL blind oncoming drivers. You wouldn't want someone swerving into you and hitting you head-on because they were blinded by your lights, now would you?

Easy there Sparky! Driving with the added illumination of fog lights is safer for 2 reasons. 1. Driver can see better (especially maxima drivers with poor headlights) 2. Other drivers are are more aware of you. you need something better to worry about than people driving around with their fog lights on even though (god save us all) THERE IS NO FOG!

I have more experience with automotive lighting than 99% of this board, so trust me, it's taken care of.

They're the bumper lights that came with the car. And they're staying there. Clear bumper lights are played out and ugly.

seems as though ricers with the ridiculously bright "blue" foglights aimed right in your eyes has left a sour taste in your mouth. cant blame you, they irritate me also..i think everyone should read the daniel stern lighting faq modifying their headlights/fogs because not only does it show how to be respectful to oncoming drivers, it also shows how to actually obtain better vision at the same time.

no one here has a black 9-5, much less with ugly rims, but i think i know the car you're talking about, he is the manager of advanced auto body which is right down the road from me (i think you might be mistaking "car parts" for "imported car parts", i work at "imported....." which is right across from the peacedale mill, just before the "pumphouse" if you're coming from wakefield.
my boss actually just stopped by and hes gone for the rest of the day i guess hes going to connecticut for surveying or something.

funny you mention casey's, i used to go there alot but now wing-night is 21+ after 9pm so that keeps me away for another ~2 months.

Ah ok you're right I was confusing the two. Yea that body shop has this black 9-5 with AWFUL chrome rims on it. I die a little inside everytime I see it. I can't stop by today unfortunately, full day of classes and work but I'll get down there soon!

i know you're just kidding
i would've had i known and didnt have a family function to attend.
i'm going to setup a small meet when my maxima is going again. with any kind of luck it'll be this week (maybe tomorrow if the weather and my brake lines cooperate) that its moving (and stopping) properly but given the past 18 months, thats not likely to happen.
probably not the right place, but no hard feelings from the 3rd gen vs. 4th gen thread, ey?

How will you make the fogs yellow like the Lexus IS300? I believe they use some type of yellow tinted lens for the fogs. Lamin-x would be nice.

Mhen, how long did these projectors take you to do on your fogs?

Yea Madmax I did wave back. I was passing looking for one of your cars and saw you guys standing outside. Projectors in the fogs seriously took me like an hour to do. Since I took out the stock foglight aimers I purposly aimed them lower than the stockers because they are much brighter.

maximabebe the IS300 uses a yellow lense with a white bulb. I'm using a yellow bulb with a clear lense. Yellow bulbs in projectors come out VERY yellow, totally unlike yellow bulbs in a projector. I'm not familiar with lamin-x, care to explain?

I normally like the way that the stock orange's look on the black cars like yours. However, when you get those fogs in there, they will be bright yellow(IS300) and your corner lights will be orange. I just don't think it will look good. You should just get some clears and put the same color yellow bulbs in the corner lights that you will have in your fogs. That way, everything matches. IMHO.

This is such a cool idea, BTW.
I think they look awesome, and I cannot wait to see them in there and lit up.
i love the IS300 fogs, and have always wanted some of them.

You headlights just look sick at night. That beam is ridiculously straight coming out of there and shining onto the scary lightpost. ha ha.

Good work and keep us posted.
Keep it up...

My corner lights (right next to the headlights) are disconnected. They're useless lights and appear dirty next to the HIDs so I just took out the bulbs. The orange bumper lights are staying tere sorry

Yes you can put two projectors into the headlight. One for low beam and the other for high, however fitment would be a BIIIITCH. The shape of our headlights just suck for fitting in round objects haha

As far as getting IS300 foglights, hidplanet.com has some for sale every once in a while. I paid $40 for these, and IS300's routinely go for $160. The only difference being the color of the lense, so IMO they're not worth it at all.

Perhaps I missed this somewhere but are those your stock fog lense housings? If so, how did you get them apart? I've spent much time and tried many times to get mine apart and they just will not budge one bit.

YEa they are the stock housings. I put them in the over at 350 for 15 minutes or so, then you have to pry DEEP into the housings. As you can see I damaged part of my housing getting the glass out. There is no way to get it out without doing it, so I'm going to have to repair it which is pretty easy.

Nismo98 what do you want me to email you about?

Cool, I need to replace the broken glass on my foglight and finally someone is telling me how. When you say "pry deep into the housings", I assume you mean take a flathead screwdriver or something and stick it into the sealant between the glass and the housing?

Did you say those were Audi TT projectors which are not for HIDs but rather for regular H3 bulbs? I imagine that would make the H3 bulb look a lot brighter/more focused. If the finished product looks good and you do a write-up, I'd like to do something like this. Thanks for being a pioneer.

Sorry about my question actually. I didn't see your post explaining the yellow lens on the IS300 earlier. Lamin-x is like a 17 mil window tint (thick soft film) that is applied to headlight/foglight lenses, hoods, fenders for protection and come in a variety of colors including clear, smoke, yellow, black, etc....It's main purpose is protection against rock chips but the yellow one caught my eye on their website so I ordered two small sheets for my gofs. BTW I have PIAA Extreme white H3's in my fogs and with the Lamin-x yellow film I have to admit that it looks pretty good. Better than I had expected. Pics when I finish my roll of film. Sorry, no digicam. Heres a link : http://lamin-x.com/ One more thing about the smoked black film (or any color) is that it is really easy to cut with scissors so some custom headlight eyelids are also an option. Look at the "Show-off" section of their website for some install pics.

Nismo98 I would love to make to do installs of projectors for people but my schedule only allows me to do it during winter break and/or the summer time. If you can wait, that would be the best time to contact me.

Yes they are AudiTT projectors which use H3 HALOGEN bulbs. My headlights are HIDs but the foglights will be strickly halogen based.

Maximabebe I actually called lamin-x yesterday, I'm going to be ordering a small sheet to test with. Thanks for the info!

Well I just went out and checked the aiming. My drivers side foglight is PERFECT but my passenger side is way the hell out of whack haha... so I'm gonna hack it apart tonight and reset it in the correct place (hopefully!)
