manual transmission on a 96 SE last? I understand it depends on the owner most of the time, but im just trying to get some sort of average.
By the way this is my first post, I scanned for an introduction area, but there is none. Im here because I love Maximas like everyone else here
. I recently bought a 96 SE, black ext/black interior, leather seats, bose system, manual trans, heated seats, moonroof, ect ect. (my first max)

w/ average use, probably 150k. it still depends mostly on how the car is driven and th maitenance done, some could last 200k+ while others die at 100k. one thing i know is that the clutches seem to go out often, so u can upgrade. i see ur from GR, im from Holland MI.

My tranny has been making whining sounds since 98,000 miles and up until recently it has been holding up great. It's getting too loud to the point where I can't take it anymore. It feels like the tranny is just going to blow up on me. I replaced the clutch a few days ago and the problem persists.
Time for a new tranny.
Keep in mind that I bought the car when it had 73k miles on it and it was babied by the previous owner. I AM the one who beat the living snot out of the car. I took it to the track a lot and I drove aggressive most of the time.

My SE has 96,484 miles on it as of right now. Hopefully my clutch and tranny will last me into 200k. Im used to unreliable cars (fed up with purchasing and driving domestics), so anything driving consistently more than three months is a plus for me.
