Starting Problem, 95
My 95 Maxima (96K miles) has the problem listed in the "Consumer Report" (see below). I have to crank it 5 to 6 times before I can get it started. What is the best fix? Other than this problem, it runs and starts fine for the rest of the day after it is started. It is like trying to start an older car with the chock wide open in the morning. It also feel like there is no gas going to the injectors. The injectors were replaced at 80K.
Consumer Report listed a common problem on Maxima
"Hard starting: If the engine does not start on the first attempt, the engine may crank very slowly on the second attempt because of a problem with the engine-control computer. (1995)"

replace the fuel filter first. if conditions don't change, you'll need to have your starter checked. maximas' starters and alternators are notoriously fragile. they just don't last too long.
try the spark plugs " use NGK Platnium" check ur fuel pump too... cause mine had those kinds hard starts and all i did was changed my spark plugs and WAULA.... its starts every single time now....
just mine 2 cents...
i hope this helps...

Clean your throttle body!!! There was one winter during which my car was hard to start...I cleaned the TB and the problem hasn't come back since.
Starters and alternators aren't that bad...my starter started to go around 184,000 miles and I replaced it preemptively...the alternator is original and I'm about 196,000 now...(shhh! don't tell Murphy).
