mid-pipe how to??? (Link is down)
ok i looked in the stickies but the link is down anyone else have a how to on how to make a custom mid pipe because im tring to do my intake but i need the how to for that thanks
I made a custom midpipe but I think I did mine a little different than the write-up….
First off I used a piece of 3” metal tubing I found in our shop. (I believe any welding supply store or possibly auto parts will have this piping…I would get about 12” or so, because you may use the extra like I did). I then measured how long I thought the midpipe should be from the intake to where the filter would sit in the bottom part of the air box. (I made it an inch or so longer than necessary just to make sure at first).
I cut the pipe at a slight angle so that it would be directed more towards the air box. This isn’t necessary thought since you will probably use the small rubber connecter that is already on the throttle body to connect it. Once you slide the midpipe in this rubber “connector” you’ll want to take the two vacuum hoses and figure out where you’ll want them. I did this by taking them and touching them against the midpipe to make sure that they wouldn’t be in a bind or “kink” up. I then marked the spot on the midpipe to where these hoses would go. (Note: I only put 2 connectors on the midpipe for 2 hoses…the hose that was for the valve cover I did NOT connect to the midpipe, I simply installed a filter onto it).
Once I found out where the hoses needed to be, I proceeded to drill holes into the midpipe. I ended up using two partial barbs I found that were the perfect size for the two hoses. I welded these barbs into the midpipe for a safe, airtight installation. Once the midpipe was at this stage I test fitted everything and then cut the remaining inch or so I had earlier left. After it was cut I took a small ball hone and cleaned up the inside for a slick finish.
With the remaining pipe I had left I made a MAF adapter....
(note...in a hurry so couldnt get into detail, just pm me later if you need more information...)

The two large lines are not vacum lines. There is one true vaccum line that originates from just below the TB. It is very small. The IAC line is not a vacum line. Running the IAC line to the midpipe is a good idea but I don't think the valve cover line is a good idea. All it does is spite oil into the incoming air.

Oh, and about running the line from the valve cover to the midpipe...I didn't run it to the midpipe, I believe I said I simply installed a filter there.
